Here is another example of how pervasive IoT can be: this week, we've seen an interesting project popping up, one about an immersive theater. Putting the audience in the middle of the play, and guiding them through the set, IoT sensors and devices extend artists creativity. That's a unique type of application for IoT, especially when you see it next to other stories about enabling underseas datacenters or letting Finning, a company manufacturing Caterpillars optimize its own operations harnessing customer-facing data from sensors on their machines.
We are glad to wish Microsoft Azure a happy 10th birthday. Impressive journey for Microsoft's Cloud Forbes retraces in a nice article highlighting Azure's particular and unique positioning in the IoT landscape.
IoT security is In the news as it seems no week passes without a harsh reminder that security is to be taken seriously with IoT devices. Security Affairs tells the story of hackers infecting Windows 7 based IoT devices. People, update your devices to latest software to get best protection, also if you are on Azure check out this blog post from the Security Center team for IoT for recommendations on how to lock down your IoT app.
Finally Edge computing was mentioned several times in the news with some nice spotlight on Azure IoT Edge and Azure Sphere solutions.
Read on, watch and get your hands on over the week end to start a new week fresh and up to date. And if you heard interesting Microsoft IoT news and updates or want to share your pet project of the week, feel free to comment below!
