Three Practical Ways to Track Copilot Updates and Empower Your Team

Keeping up with Microsoft 365 Copilot changes isn’t just a good habit for IT professionals and admins—it’s essential for ensuring smooth operations and maximizing the value of your investment. With new features, updates, and improvements rolling out regularly, staying informed helps your team adapt quickly, avoid surprises, and leverage the latest tools. In a recent discussion, Darryl Rowe and Michael Gannotti highlighted three main ways to stay updated, along with practical tips for making update tracking an integrated part of your team’s routine.

Resources:

Three Essential Resources for Copilot Updates

  • M365 Public Roadmap: See what’s coming and plan ahead.
  • M365 Copilot Blog: Get in-depth updates and learning resources.
  • M365 Message Center: Receive timely alerts on changes that impact your environment.

M365 Public Roadmap: Plan and Filter Your Way to Success

The Microsoft 365 Public Roadmap is your go-to source for upcoming features and changes across the entire M365 suite. One of its standout features is the ability to filter updates by product, status, or release date—making it easier to focus on what matters most to your organization. For those who like to dig deeper or share information, you can download the roadmap directly into Excel, enabling sorting, custom filtering, and inclusion in internal reports.

Want updates delivered automatically? The Roadmap’s RSS feed is a time-saver. Subscribe using your favorite RSS reader or integrate directly into Microsoft Teams, Outlook, or SharePoint, so the latest changes land right where your team communicates.

M365 Copilot Blog: Your Monthly Update Hub

The M365 Copilot Blog is updated monthly with detailed posts that break down new features, enhancements, and best practices. These posts often include learning links and guides to help users and admins get the most out of each update. Just like the roadmap, the blog offers an RSS feed—making it easy to follow updates without manual checks. Try adding the feed to your Teams channel or Outlook inbox to keep everyone in the loop and encourage knowledge sharing.

M365 Message Center: Real-Time Alerts for Administrators

For updates that require immediate attention, the M365 Message Center is indispensable. It delivers targeted alerts about imminent changes, service updates, and actions needed in your tenant. Collaborate closely with your admins to review, filter, and prioritize these messages. Set up notifications to surface the most relevant updates directly in Teams or SharePoint, ensuring they’re discussed and acted upon in your regular team meetings.

Integrating Updates into Your Team’s Routine

Knowing where to find information is only half the battle—making update tracking a routine part of your team’s workflow is key. Use Teams channels, SharePoint news, or Outlook groups to share updates and discuss their impact. Formalize the process by assigning responsibility, scheduling regular reviews, and encouraging collaboration between IT, admins, and end users. Filtering out noise by focusing on what’s relevant for your organization helps prevent information overload and streamlines change management.

Conclusion: Proactive Update Tracking Pays Off

Staying up to date with Microsoft 365 Copilot changes helps your organization adapt quickly, avoid disruptions, and unlock new capabilities as soon as they become available. By leveraging the M365 Public Roadmap, Copilot Blog, and Message Center—and integrating these resources into your regular routines—you’ll empower your team to anticipate change, collaborate effectively, and make the most of Microsoft 365.

This is great—just a bit tricky when the "updated on" date changes daily for the same blog post in the RSS feed.

For example, the post "What’s new in Microsoft 365 Copilot | June 2025" keeps appearing as new in my Power Automate flow, even though it's the same content. I have the Power Automate trigger to run on the PublishOn date (not the UpdatedOn date).

Not sure if this is intentional, but it’s odd that there’s no visible update date when changes are made—only the publish date keeps shifting for the entire blog.

Would be great to get some clarity on this

Hi spicemaster23 That is odd I agree. Since re-platforming this past year the Techcommunity blogs have had some "interesting" glitches on occasion. The platform keeps improving as they address so hopefully this will be a short term issue you are seeing.
