If you're starting to roll out Microsoft Copilot in your organization, you're probably exploring the Agent Store. But you might also be noticing something unexpected—third-party agents like Jira, Monday, or Dropbox showing up without your approval.
You're not alone. Many IT admins are seeing this and asking:
"Where did these agents come from, and how do I remove them?"
Here’s how to clean up your Copilot Agent Store and give your users a more curated, secure experience:
Why This Matters
- User confusion: Users see unfamiliar agents and start submitting tickets.
- Security concerns: Third-party agents may access data you haven’t vetted.
- Control: You want to manage what’s available in your environment.
Steps to Remove Third-Party Agents
- Go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
- Navigate to the Copilot section in the left-hand menu.
- Open Copilot Settings
- Under the Copilot dropdown, select Settings.
- Go to the Data Access Tab
- This is where you control agent visibility and access.
- Adjust Agent Permissions
- Find the setting:
“Allow apps and agents created by external publishers”- Uncheck this box to remove third-party agents from the store.
- Find the setting:
- Optional: Fine-Tune Access
- You can also:
- Allow or block Microsoft-created agents.
- Allow only agents created by your organization.
- Assign access to specific security groups.
- You can also:
- Review Agent Types
- In the Agents section, check the Type column:
- External = third-party
- Microsoft = first-party
- Shared = created by users in the Copilot web app
- Custom = built in Copilot Studio or M365 toolkit
- In the Agents section, check the Type column:
- Refresh the Agent Store
- Go back to Copilot, refresh the page, and you’ll see the third-party agents disappear.
Final Thoughts
This quick change helps you:
- Reduce noise in the Agent Store
- Improve user experience
- Maintain better control over your Copilot environment
