0x80004005 ERRORS RUNNING EXCHANGE REBASE TOOL BATCH FILE(S)
I wanted to comment about this problem I struggled with, and the eventual solution. We are a single Exchange Server environment with about 110 users, all in the same time zone (I feel very lucky about this...). After running the MsExTmzCfg.exe tool successfully (including moving the users from "Nonexistant.txt" into the "Mailboxes_1.txt" file, as discussed in other posts), I kept having the following errors when I ran the batch files:
HrProcessInputFile:Processing Mailbox:/O=DOMAIN /OU=GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=USER
HrProcessMailbox:Timezone set to EASTERN STANDARD TIME.
HrSpawnOLTool:Spawned worker process as pid - 3964.
HrScanEventLogForSuccess:Success Event not found in Application log, treating as failure.
HrProcessMailbox:Unable to process mailbox:/O=DOMAIN/OU=GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=USER- 0x80004005
HrProcessInputFile:Error Processing Mailbox:/O=DOMAIN/OU=GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=USER - 0x80004005
I had already done the following:
1. Logged-on to a Win XP Pro workstation as a user who was an admin on the workstation, a domain admin, and had full access to all mailboxes (in fact, I used my backup utility account, which has adequate rights).
2. Opened Outlook 2003 and created a new profile for this user.
3. Installed TZMOVE.EXE and ran it against this users profile. (It ran automatically after installation, which led to part of the confusion).
4. Ran the batch files created as mentioned above, and got the 0x80004005 errors on every single mailbox.
I determined the problem to be the following:
1. I had the TZMOVE.EXE distributable file, not the utility itself in the location I specified for TZMOVE.exe. The distributable (installation) file is 8,479KB, but the actual utility, which has the same name, but is only 304KB. I found the correct file in a folder called "Office Outlook Time Zone Data Update Tool". You can certainly just search for "tzmove.exe". I copied the correct file to the location I specified when I ran MsExTmzCfg.exe.
2. The second problem was that I didn't have the associated file, TZMOVER.DLL in the location I specified when I ran MsExTmzCfg.exe. Accordingly, I copied the TZMOVER.DLL file to the location I specified when I ran MsExTmzCfg.exe.
3. I re-ran the batch files (I used separate ones just to see what would happen, rather than hit it all at once...), and they worked fine!
Here is a link to the Microsoft Technical Chat FAQ that specfically discusses this solution:
http://blogs.technet.com/dst2007/archive/2007/03/02/when-running-exchange-rebasing-tool-we-are-getting-lots-of-0x80004005-errors-what-is-causing-this.aspx
One last thing, about resources (conference rooms). I did not change any configuration on the resources prior to running the rebase batch scripts as discussed in some KB articles. As a result, I found that after all of the mailboxes were successfully processed, the resources were still unchanged. I found that I had to manually open the Inbox for each resource and then manually accept the requests (there were many messages in the Inbox, but the resource did not automatically respond), and then all was updated! Of course, I warned people who scheduled rooms that they would receive several updated replies, and they did.
I hope this is helpful. Much of it may be a restatement of things said, but I thought I would throw it in... I know these postings were a help to me.
Good luck!
