Dennis C.
I know exactly how you feel. I have been working on this for 2 weeks in test lab and never got it to work. But with some limited testing in production got it working. No offense to the Microsoft support a lot of them have no knowledge of DST. They have
daily meeting and get some much information dumped on them nothing is sinking in and the information is changing daily. The video demos to me are the best. The link is below and towards the middle of the page.
The patches are the simple part. The procedure for DST and updating the calendars is the pain in the butt. I can only tell you what I will be running in the next few days.
I am not going to talk about the patches those are the simple steps. The only thing with those are do you install the CDO patch (KB92666) before or after the rebook procedure and I still have not figured out which is best. I probably going after since it
brings down the mailstores. I am also staying away from Version II of the Exchange update tool, that testing did not go well. I only have 5,000 Exchange 2003 users and 1,500 Exchange 2000 so the memory leak should not be an issue. Plus it is confusing.
I also downloaded the Virtual server Microsoft created and that was a big help. It has everything installed that is needed.
The main issue I ran into was running the permission script which is a must. The script does something that allows you to create these temporary profiles. Not that is allows you to, it gives the permission needed. Also the thing Microsoft has not motioned
anywhere that I found is that if I scheduled a recurring meeting and run the rebook procedure it sends everyone in the meeting a new update for their calendars and the appointment must accepted to have the correct time. Overall when you watch the video it
gives a good representative of what to expect if nothing goes wrong. The problem is what do you do is something does go wrong. There are no links via Google or anything for help. A lot of hours in the test lab got me familiar with applications and even
then I did not get it to run.
Good Luckā¦
