I'm definitely not an IT professional, so apologies for the basic-ness of my questions.
I convinced my university to give me an email alias. That is set up and I am able to send from it using Outlook online when I manually select it from the drop-down after clicking on the "From" field -- a great first step. However, it's definitely not working as I'd like yet (basically as my primary email address -- unfortunately they won't give me a desired account name).

However, there are several pieces that are not yet working:
1) When I reply to an email sent to the alias, by default it doesn't reply from the alias, instead reply from my account name address. Any thoughts on how I might correct this without manually selecting the "From" field each time?
2) I'm not being able to set the alias as the default "From" email for Outlook online--is this possible, and if so how? (As a note--I don't see the "Addresses to send from" section in the Compose and Reply panel of the settings.)
3) When I send email with Outlook online, the display name doesn't show up correctly when I receive it in my gmail -- instead, only the email itself shows up.
4) I am unable to select the alias in Outlook for iOS--instead, the "From" field seems to be static, so I can't enter anything else. Any thoughts on why this might be, how to fix it, and how to set the alias as the default?
Thank you all very much for your help--I'm finding that I need to do a lot of leading of the IT department, so the more detailed explanations you can provide the better. And, again, sorry for the basic questions but this seemed to be the best spot where people actually understand the system.
Be Well,
James
