The new option to “Turn on sending from aliases” is a welcome addition but there are still two limitations I find restricting:
- There is no option to control the display name of the alias address via the standard syntax “Display Name <alias@domain>”. The display name for the user with the defined email is used instead.
- I would like to see the option of sending from <anything>@mydomain.com without having to first register <anything> as an alias on the domain. This would allow me to use disposable email addressed on my domain.
I have complete control of my domain and commonly user an alias to track who I have given an email address to. For example, if I register on a website at Supplier.com I may use the email address mailto:supplier@mydomain.com. I then know that any emails I get with that email address are sourced from that website. If they come from somewhere else other than Supplier.com, I know that the supplier has shared my email address with someone else. If the address falls into the hands of spammers, I can then easily use filtering to block emails to mailto:supplier@mydomain.com. The problem is that if I receive legitimate email form Supplier.com, I cannot simply reply to them from my Inbox by entering mailto:supplier@mydomain.com in the From address. Instead, I must first create an alias with that address. I find this too restrictive.
Kind regards
