Our UPN is also different than our email address - and worse, it is an actual Internet Domain Name - a dot-com one - that years ago someone forgot to renew and thus we had to create a new domain name but nobody got around to renaming the active directory domain.
So no, please tell your Mobile group to STOP TRYING TO MAKE IT SO A STUPID PERSON CAN SET IT UP!!
If you DON'T know:
Your username
your AD domain name
your AD pre-200k name
your UPN
your public email domain name
the kind of authentication you are using
the FQDN name of the mailserver
then IMHO you have no business setting up an Outlook Mobile account. All of those items should be available for override right before tapping the check to setup the account.
Autodiscover.xml is fine when it is setup properly but there's a variety of reasons it might not be, not the least of which is old documentation from Microsoft using domain.local as an example....
