I'm still confused by this. Either I'm not understanding this statement correctly or it is incorrect. My understanding of this would be that the February SU should NOT change the serial number attribute. I've just now updated two servers using the Download Center .exe update packages and both servers serial numbers have been updated:
Exchange 2016 to Version 15.1 (Build 32507.17) - before Version 15.1 (Build 32507.006)
Exchange 2019 to Version 15.2 (Build 31118.21) - before Version 15.2 (Build 31118.007)
Prior to update installation I applied the workaround and manually set the serial number to the original CU version. So If I had to recover a server now after February SU installation, I would have to change the serial number again.
