As an Exchange consultant I recognize the issues regarding e-mail archiving.
Exchange Journaling seems a nice feature. But, unless you implement a third party archiving solution, the Journal mailbox will become very large in size which results in very slow search from within Outlook.
To offer added value to customers Exchange 2007 should offer a dedicated archiving database (on a dedicated archiving server if needed) with search and extract possibilities for admins. Unfortunately, with Exchange 2007 this is not possible (only archiving to Journal mailbox andor SharePoint).
