Thank you so much for this helpful article! Just wanted to bring up a couple things too:
- Sometimes licensing isn't enforced, and you can create a 100GB cloud archive for an E3 user and it fills up, but if you don't have "exchange online plan 2" checked, it won't create the AuxArchive. Worked with support for like 2 weeks before we found it. Once we turned it on within a few hours the process began and now we're just in the 30 day waiting period before main archive is flushed. So always check those licenses!
- One way to move a lot of old on-premise archive mail to the cloud archive without getting MS involved is to just make sure the process is working, and then import the old archive mail back into the mailbox and let the archiving process take its time. This could take months given the 30 day window, but will eventually complete. 🙂
