Introducing Support for Concurrent Exchange Online License Assignments

I know this is an Exchange post and but since you mentioned it - is the following true for SharePoint?

"SharePoint Online and Teams, for example, have been supporting concurrent license assignments for their own services for some time now."

Documentation seems to contradict this statement: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/enterprise-users/licensing-service-plan-reference#service-plans-that-cannot-be-assigned-at-the-same-time 

As well as my own experience where I see the following:

"You can’t assign licenses that contain these conflicting services: SharePoint (Plan 1) for
Education, SharePoint (Plan 2) for Education. Review the services included with each
License, and try again."

Perhaps it is true for commercial SKUs but not edu SKUs?
