kwester-ebbinghaus-business : When I ask support about this the response was:
- possibility to manage online mailboxes is o365 team responsability, not Exchange team.
- an agreement was done between the 2 teams to allow auto licensing of Exchange 2013 and 2016 to use hybrid console, but not renewed for next versions.
- The O365 teams will release a spécial version of Exchange management console that don't need a full server to do the basic jobs better than the exchange ECM, but it is not yet released and no informations are available.... so is this always a current project?
- As my knowledge, the Exchange 2016 was compatible with Server 2019 during beta but it was locked for release. so you need server 2016 to have exchange 2016.
- If you try exchange 2019 on server 2019 (for example in a full server 2019 infrastructure), the changes on the AD are definitive and you can't anymore rollback to exchange 2016 and can't license 2019 with hybrid wizard. So, like me, you are in the shit with full hybrid system when you can't install 2016 and can't license 2019 without pay for not using the server....
It is a big issue but microsoft don't want to communicate about that.
