One thing to check after turning EWS back on: the allow list Microsoft filled only has the apps it saw in the last 60 days, and Microsoft says infrequently used apps may not be on it. A backup or reporting job that runs quarterly can be missing, and the first sign is its next failed run. The EWS usage report gives AppIDs, not app names, so match each one to its app before you decide what to add.
