To add to nkosenkaevans scenario 'Forwarding and CMT', at least in our environment messages are authenticated as Internal (Headers: X-MS-Exchange-CrossTenant-AuthAs , X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs), not Anonymous without creating additional connector "Forward to Onprem" which is mentioned in article.
