This is still a horrible change. All this time later, after the change was made, there are still issues.
Just look in the Exchange Online EAC, pick a user and forward their emails to a new user (one who is using the new EDOID format for their name). The Exchange Online EAC shows the following for forwarding:
Email forwarding
Applied: Forwarding address is set to xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
(The EDOID was removed for security reasons)
BUT - how are admins supposed to (easily) know who a mailbox is forwarding emails to using the EDOID provided by the Exchange Online EAC GUI? If I try to use the Exchange Online EAC GUI and search for a mailbox by using the EDOID, it returns 0 (zero) results.
