Thank you Greg Taylor - EXCHANGE i've located the notification in the Service Health Dashboard. I've now re-enabled POP following the instructions and we'll work on a plan to migrate away from POP3. Your help is really appreciated. I'm not sure why but i did complete the steps in the article yesterday and the phrase "Diag: Enable Basic Auth in EXO" returned no results.
I feel quite disappointed in this process that there was not enough done to notify of an upcoming change that affected a critical service, just a switch off for 48 hours to see if the customer gets upset? Our helpdesk pings the pop3 service every 3 minutes, it's pretty obvious we use it. I've now configured health center to email notifications, i was not previously aware that was required. I'm emailed about irrelevent upcoming product changes constantly but no email about a critical service being switched off.
