Greg Taylor - EXCHANGE , with the "we're not turning off SMTP AUTH" but "Security Defaults ON - NO Basic AUTH", then SMTP AUTH is OFF & can't be turned on - yes? Meaning one has to turn off "Security Defaults" to get SMTP AUTH (which is basic for SMTP send).... =- yes?
BTW: on the Customer's 365 Domain, which was created circa April, it was "Security Defaults ON" and Outlook DID challenge everytime via the Authenticator - the customer, who is very conscious of not divulging Patient related eMail via an un-attended PC with Outlook unlaunched, absolutely loved it. That is, until I turned off the "Security Defaults" to try & get APP Passwords & SMTP send going......, now it doesn't ask (although I've not set to Enforce again)......
If Security Defaults are On, will App Password for SMTP send (which will be SMTP AUTH - basic) work?????
I've just done a customer with Google, will see in a couple of days time in NZ, where the customer is now 2FA, but with App Password, & that other customer is working fine..... Not our choice of Mail platform, but they use a major 3rd Party Scheduler product that integrates 2-Way with Calendars in Google, but only 1 way with Microsoft (still after several years)........ or we'd be facing issues with them come Oct, unless can resolve .... as said, will see if this does keep working at Google, when they kill "Less Secure Apps" aka do away with BASIC Auth on POP/IMAP...... but presumably, like MS, not SMTP AUTH..... we shall see....
Look forward to answers re the MS side ..... & appreciate the assist...
Cheers
