Good morning,
maybe someone can help me with my concern. If we want to disable basic auth for SMTP, which would require to set the manage security defaults to No. As I understood SMTP works only with this setting. What I did not really find or got a clear statement, what happens after decommission of basic auth for SMTP? Will we still be able to use SMTP with OAuth2.0?
Are there any specific settings required or is SMTP with OAuth2.0 not affected when basic auth is disabled?
I was a bit concerned about this statement here: If your authentication policy disables basic authentication for SMTP, clients cannot use the SMTP AUTH protocol even if you enable the settings outlined in this article. For more information, see Disable Basic authentication in Exchange Online." See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/authenticated-client-smtp-submission.
