We are seeing signs of strain for some of our more hefty users that have 100K~200K items in their Inbox or Sent Items folders in Outlook. In many cases it can be seen with users that have 10K/20K or above items in those fodders. A similar article with supporting performance statistics and recommendations would be most helpful in requiring limitations for those users. Our environment is currently mixed with ¾ on Exchange 2003 in Online Mode and ¼ on Exchange 2007 in Cache Mode but the effect can be seen in both environments, though it seems to be a little better in 2007.
