Hello,
I know this is an old thread, but I am still trying to understand what will happen with IMAP-enabled email clients when Microsoft disables Basic Authentication in October, 2022. We have clients set up using Thunderbird and OAUTH2 Authentication for IMAP and SMTP. They are using OATH2 and NOT Basic authentication. As I understand it, this is the only way that Thunderbird can connect to O365 with Modern Authentication.
My question is, should email clients using IMAP & SMTP with OATH2 continue to work after Basic Authentication is disabled in October? I think they will, based on what I've read, but I haven't seem anything definitive on the subject.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
