Microsoft OneDrive LTI is now generally available for all Canvas customers. As of today, the new and improved Microsoft OneDrive LTI has rolled out to all customers and is no longer in preview. Microsoft OneDrive LTI brings the best of OneDrive and Office365 directly into Canvas. Educators can access their OneDrive files right within Canvas, add Office 365 files to modules and assignments, and grade Office 365 files in the Canvas SpeedGrader. Students can work on Office 365 cloud assignments, submit OneDrive files directly from Canvas in response to their assignments, and collaborate using Office 365 files within Canvas.

The new Microsoft OneDrive LTI has several exciting new features:

  • Users can add multiple OneDrive school accounts
  • Fully supports Canvas course copy
  • New and improved OneDrive file picker experience
  • Link or embed Office 365 files in modules and assignments
  • Use Office 365 files in Canvas Collaborations
  • And more!

  • Hi hmcneill -

Yes, this new OneDrive LTI integration duplicates functionality of the Office 365 app - we have updated the OneDrive Picker experience, as well as added option to embed Office files with the Microsoft online viewers inside of Canvas. The new OneDrive LTI also supports Assignment and Module Copy and Course Content Export.

Documentation and deployment instructions are available here:  https://aka.ms/LTIAdminDocs

Please feel free to email us with additional questions or if assistance is needed:  LMSIntegrations@microsoft.com.

Hello, can you tell me if this OneDrive integration should replace our existing 'Office 365' app integration with Canvas? It is not clear what the benefits would be. Does the OneDrive version include all of the previous functionality or should it be added without removing our existing integration? Also, we do not want to lose any links to 'Collaborations' in courses which are already in use.

Hi - in this blog post there is mention of weekly LTI Office Hours via a Teams meeting. However the link for there Teams meeting seems to be missing. I would like to chat with folks about some questions I have and would like to attend one of these office hours session. Can you please let me know how to join one of the Teams meetings?

    Regards,

One thing I believe users will miss, and that should be considered, is a search feature.  It's not easy to remember exactly which folder a file is in or want to spend the extra time going to the correct folder.  Anything to speed up the process for teachers is always good.
