Hi Brian.
ADMX files are just text XML files. They are just instructions for the Group Policy application to process. Within the XML there is an Operating System Flag and description for each policy where it says "Only applies to Windows 11, OR Only applies to Windows 7 OR only Applies to Windows Server 2012 or Later or Windows 10 or later etc)
The Windows 10 22H2 ones had NEWER settings than the Windows 11 22H2 ones. So if you just used Windows 11, you were missing all the updates added to the Windows 10 22H2 ones. Windows 11 22H2 had some newer settings but were missing Windows 10 newer settings.
The issue is that Microsoft has been maintaining the XMLs separately unlike with previous versions where ADMX were updated in a single stream for all operating systems.
So now above it looks like they have gone back to ONE stream where there is one set of ADMX updated that work for Windows 11, Windows 10 and even the older OS Settings.
@lforbes
So I'm trying to get this straight. You are copying all of the 22H2 files for Windows 11 to your Central Store and then you are copying over those seven files from Windows 10 22H2 into the same store? Does this do anything with existing Win10 admx files/settings?
