my second test worked better but I still have some quirks that make me nervous. My test system is a 2012r2 server, and for a simple test I installed the ConfigMgr console on it. The upgrade worked, now that I am paying attention to the SKU.  However 2 things:

 

1. The configmgr console will not connect to my site anymore.  I get a long winded error.  Is this common after a ConfigMgr IPU?  I did not see this mentioned in the  guide.  I have even reinstalled the console, and I still get the same long windows error (verify this and that .. there are 5 bullet points).

2. We use Defender for Endpoint.  It seems so far that I must need to offboard the Defender for Endpoint on this server before I upgrade it.  I have been fighting with it since doing this test upgrade (second time) and so far the upgraded server is not updating or reporting back properly (for Defender for Endpoint) and if I run the powershell test (for Defender for Endpoint) I get no alerts.  Can anyone confirm that?  I know the guide mentions SCEP .. we used to use that but switched to Defender for Endpoint and I confirmed SCEP was not installed on my test server.
