We are thrilled to announce the general availability of a new Azure Virtual Desktop capability that allows multiple personal desktops to be assigned to a single user within one host pool. This update, previously in public preview, improves upon the limit of one desktop per user.
Setting up this feature used to require multiple host pools, which was time consuming and resource intensive. The ability to assign more than one personal desktop in a single host pool reduces management overhead and consolidates resources for a more efficient virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment.
This feature also significantly improves user experience. IT administrators can use the feature in conjunction with friendly names for session hosts, which makes it easier for users to distinguish among their assigned desktops, and to navigate more efficiently among different desktops. The learning curve associated with new technology adoption is reduced.
Enable multiple personal desktops to be assigned to a single user in the Microsoft Azure portal when you deploy a personal host pool.
This feature is available for the Microsoft Azure portal, REST API, and PowerShell.
