Hi Robert Eriksson 

 

This variable is used to create a group in Azure DevOps (or team in GitHub) and add members to it. For Azure DevOps these members need to be identified by their Service Principal Name. This is essentially the username in Entra ID terminology.

 

This group is then assigned as an approver on the Azure DevOps Service Connection (or environment in GitHub). Then when you trigger the Continuous Delivery Build in Azure DevOps or GitHub the members of this group will be prompted to approve the apply of the Azure Landing Zones.

 

In summary, this setting is unrelated to whether you choose to run the bootstrap as a user or service principal.
