How are you performing alerting at scale on a subscription or resource group level?

I tried reporting on "system.memory.utilization" on a subscription level targeting Virtual Machines and got this error: NOTE: You refined by resource type/location earlier, but PromQL doesn’t support that. You can include the resource type directly in your query.
