MicrosoftI was surprised to receive a budget alert this morning. Upon further investigation I discovered that I had been subscribed to DDoS Network Protection without my knowledge.
I realized the the Network tab of the Firewall creation portal experience subscribes to DDoS Network Protection unless one specifically opts out. This behaviour is not well documented. I found this blog post in investigating, but I could not find anything about this behaviour in the current Firewall documentation.
To top it off, the DDoS Network Protection subscribed to is the most expensive tier, which costs over $3000 a month.
Fortunately I deleted the plan after a couple of hours.
