We’re thrilled to announce the general availability of instance mix on Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS) with Flexible orchestration mode! Customers can now deploy and scale with up to five different VM sizes within a single scale set, significantly improving capacity attainment, reducing deployment complexity, and enabling optimizing for capacity availability.

Instance mix allows customers to specify multiple VM sizes in a single scale set deployment. This flexibility enables you to optimize your deployments with an allocation strategy that meets your workload’s needs. All allocation strategies are capacity informed. Scale set deployments using instance mix will dynamically determine the best VM sizes to deploy when scaling based on underlying available capacity.

• Easily scale with a mix of VM offerings: With support for Spot Priority Mix, customers can blend Spot and On-Demand VM offers within a single scale set, ideal for balancing cost savings with capacity availability.
