Cerebral is an AI framework built for various industries and designed to run at the edge while using the power of Azure OpenAI in the cloud. It is designed to provide natural language interaction (NLI) interface for multiple personas and businesses and solve for employee problem solving, customer experience, manuals, and guide indexing, and more.
We’re thrilled to announce Jumpstart Cerebral, an open-source AI framework designed for industries that need adaptable, edge-compatible AI solutions. Built to run at the edge with seamless connectivity to Azure OpenAI in the cloud, Cerebral provides a natural language interface to support tasks such as real-time insights, customer interactions, and operational support across various sectors.
Cerebral isn’t just any AI project—it’s a community-driven, industry-ready solution, born from the 2024 Microsoft Hackathon, where it earned top spots in two categories:
- Executive Challenge - Hack for Adaptive Cloud: 2nd Place
- Topic Challenge - AI Using Azure OpenAI: 5th Place
We’d like to take a moment to recognize the incredible efforts of the Jumpstart Cerebral hackathon team and the extended Arc Jumpstart core maintainers. Their hard work, creativity, and commitment to innovation were key to bringing this solution to life. Winning recognition at the Microsoft Hackathon was a testament to their expertise, and it reflects the high standard of excellence they bring to the open-source community. This release wouldn’t have been possible without their dedication

Cerebral in Jumpstart Agora
Today, we’re excited to release Cerebral as part of our third Jumpstart Agora scenario, Contoso Hypermarket, which showcases AI-driven retail and industrial capabilities. In this scenario, Cerebral demonstrates how AI can transform operations through capabilities like shopper analytics, inventory management, and automated assistance. We encourage you to explore the Contoso Hypermarket blog post for the full breakdown of this scenario and the ways Cerebral powers it.
Looking ahead, Cerebral will be included in every new Jumpstart Agora scenario, so it will continue evolving with feedback from our community and its expanding range of use cases.
