GPT-6 Astra joins the frontier models available in Copilot Cowork and Copilot Studio, giving customers more choice for complex work they want to delegate to AI. Astra expands the range of work that can be handed off to Copilot. Instead of breaking work into smaller pieces and guiding it step by step, you can delegate larger tasks and focus your time on reviewing results, making decisions, and moving work forward.

As more work is delegated, the quality of the outcome depends on both the model and the context it can reason over. Work IQ grounds GPT-6 Astra in your files, meetings, chats, and business data within existing permissions, resulting in more relevant and accurate responses.

Get started today

GPT-6 Astra is rolling out today to users in Copilot Cowork and Copilot Studio.

Availability may vary by region and organization. Admins can manage access and configure availability for their organization through the Microsoft 365 admin center.

For the latest rollout information, see Roadmap and Microsoft 365 Copilot release notes.

    Hi Bas Brekelmans

This is a great addition to Microsoft Copilot.

However, one question from an enterprise administration and cost-management perspective: when will the new controls for Copilot Credit Policies become available that allow organisations to control which models users can access?

For our organization, we would likely choose not to enable GPT-6 Astra initially given that its Copilot Credit consumption is around 5x that of GPT-6.1 Sol, which we expect will be suitable for the majority of our users and use cases.

The concern is that if Astra is available without the ability for administrators to control model availability, users may naturally select it without being aware of the significant difference in Copilot Credit consumption.

It would be useful if Microsoft could clarify:

    • When model-level controls are expected within Copilot Credit Policies.
    • Whether users will have visibility of the relative Copilot Credit cost before selecting a model.

For organisations managing Copilot Credits at scale, having these controls available alongside the introduction of higher-consumption models will be increasingly important.

Hi, thank you for the announcement.

Is GPT-6 Astra limited to Copilot Cowork and Copilot Studio, or is it also available in regular Microsoft Copilot Chat?

If it cannot be selected manually in regular chat, can Copilot Chat automatically route certain prompts to GPT-6 Astra?
