Re: Introducing transparent ads in Microsoft Edge Preview
Transparent ads looks like a great idea, can't wait for more ad-providers to join this program. BTW the Demo page and Transparent ads settings page isn't functional right now (build 98.0.1107.0). After turning on more than two buttons the Ads on this page menu doesn't render properly and the Settings page doesn't open at all and shows a black empty screen.159KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Vertical tabs should be consistent with Fitts' law
Not saying that it's a good thing but it seems the entire WinUI 3 is made in such a way that certain (most) buttons have un-clickable empty area around them. (You will notice that in the new Settings app the same problem is there, you can't go all the way to the left and click a setting, same with the new Windows app redesigns we're seeing recently, and also in context-menu buttons) Since Microsoft Edge follows the Windows 11, and hence, the WinUI 3 design principles, we observe the Fitts' Law inconsistency. This may also be the reason why the Edge team hasn't looked into this issue yet; maybe they want to keep it this way.5.9KViews0likes1CommentRe: Dev channel update to 100.0.1185.7 is live
erkkiruohtula By "startup screen" do you mean New tab? If so, there is a setting to make it have static background only. Go to Page Settings > Custom > Background and select Image of the day. The ability to show Video along with Image of the day is a new feature and I'm loving it.4.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: Sign in with a Google account - Discussion
Elliot Kirk From what I understand by reading this post, I think this can be a really great feature as I browse from Microsoft Edge on the desktop, because Google Chrome is worse in literally every field, and on android I use Google Chrome because the Microsoft Edge android app is (sadly) quite bad comparatively. So I use two different browsers on a daily basis and since they are completely different, none of my data is getting synced. Sure, I can transfer my saved passwords, bookmarks/favorites and history from Chrome but it is a manual, time-consuming, one-time process. Once I have new data I'll have to sync between them again, and again. What I want is for Chrome and Edge to regularly sync data between each other such that whatever I browse in Chrome gets updated in my Edge history, or whichever password I save, or webpage I favorite - gets saved or favorited in Edge too. This will be really useful and productive for someone like me who prefers to use different browsers on desktop and phone; and I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who does that. Just like Edge comes pre-installed with Windows, Chrome comes pre-installed on Android phones so it makes sense that many people would continue to use Chrome on their mobile phones. However, I think if it's possible to somehow keep Edge and Chrome in sync without having to sign-in to Edge with Google account, it'll be benificial, as I would have my MSA profile picture displayed and Microsoft Rewards points in track. Further, Google is basically a third-party service in this case, and I don't trust it that much. Or if doing that isn't possible then Google should also introduce the ability to sign in to Chrome with Microsoft account parallelly when Edge introduces the similar kind of ability for signing in with Google account.4.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Microsoft Photos app preview
Please fix this Microsoft it's been so long. I hope there's no limit to the number of people that can join the Photos Preview Program, if so, break that limit or just remove the useless button to avoid confusion because the error message "Sorry, we couldn't add you to the Photos preview program" doesn't really explain anything.14KViews1like0CommentsRe: Bad Request Request too long HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.
Have you gotten this resolved yet lol? I'm having the same issue too. Jeez I wish some Microsoft agent could directly come and help us resolve this. I also get this Bad Request error while trying to contact Microsoft Support so can't get any help from there either.23KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Introducing Sleeping Tabs Experiment: Improving Memory Usage in Microsoft Edge
Excellent feature so far. I've done a lot of testing on different websites and am noticing from minor to some serious compatibility issues. I will keep providing feedback on Sleeping Tabs through Edge Feedback. Just be sure to build upon those feedbacks so this feature can soon be trusted by everyone and used regularly for most sites to save Memory and CPU Usage.3.2KViews0likes1Comment
