OneNote web clipper needs a real feedback option
Long ago, the OneNote web clipper had a feedback button and it's still referenced in some support suggestions like https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5339455/onenote-web-clipper-has-stopped-working-again If you are signed in with a Microsoft account rather than an org account (which some of our users do because both Edge and OneNote let you use both org and Microsoft accounts together quite happily and because the OneNote web clipper is used on personal devices as well, not just managed devices where we can be sure the org account is available), there is no feedback button, so you can't tell the Microsoft team that a web page didn't clip properly. Like clipping https://deno.com/blog/updates-from-tc39 in article mode loses a lot of important text from the first list and drops all the headings just because they have anchors on, which strips out important structural information because now you don't have headings between the sections. The web clipper is a key tool for OneNote in orgs but doesn't have a good feedback channel for bringing up web pages where the clipping model needs to be updated. Even longer ago when the clipper was new, every page clipped included a feedback option; it would be nice if that came back as an option you could turn on from either the clipper or the OneNote application so we could submit information more easily.Re: Extensions no longer supported
especially as the roadmap document for the move to Manifest v3 still has v3 deprecation dates marked as TBD: not good to have this happen with no notification or annoucement https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/extensions-chromium/developer-guide/manifest-v3440Views0likes1CommentThe new Outlook search in the title bar is disconnected from the content it searches
I appreciate the benefits of Microsoft Search in the Office apps but I'm getting feedback form multiple people that having the search in the title bar is unhelpful because they need to use the title bar for dragging the window around. In Outlook in particular, having the search box so far away from the content that you're searching is jarring. I understand the value of consistency, but I think that the utility of putting search with the content it searches overrides being consistent at all costs. Can we have an option to move the search box back down to the content in Outlook, and perhaps not to have it in title bars at all?655KViews140likes222CommentsRe: Add Extension Support for Android version of Edge browser
hah! I'm always glad to hear I'm not a total outlier. it would be a hard shift for me to move to another browser because I have been so firmly in the IE and Edge ecosystem for so long, so I really hope there's some movement on this soon...3.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Add Extension Support for Android version of Edge browser
nearly 3 years on and still no progress? this would be a very popular feature - I need an ad blocker and the Tweak New Twitter extension and it's very frustrating to have to install Firefox mobile just to get extensions3.8KViews0likes3CommentsRe: The new Outlook search in the title bar is disconnected from the content it searches
Gfyrlwwhen I first brought this up nearly a year ago, the Microsoft response was that they were going to wait and see what the wider group of users thought about it; I see that I'm going to be reporting back the next time I talk to anyone on the Outlook team that the wider group of users finds it as annoying and displaced as I continue to do a year later 😉265KViews7likes1CommentRe: Ask Cortana / Ask Bing - Discussion
Elliot KirkI use both 'Search the web for' and 'ask Cortana about' all the time I use ask Cortana when I need a quick definition or extra info about something without leaving the page, when the quck info will be enough and I don't need to explore further, for info about where an image comes from or as a quick way of seeing an image full size in its own tab. I use 'search the web for' when I want to explore a topic in more depth and expect to open multiple links and go to multiple page and so want a persistent list of search results4.3KViews1like0CommentsRe: Discussion - Updating our interface with Fluent touches
is this the right place to ask that all the options on the Edge menu can be pinned to the toolbar like the new Share charm? I don't need the favourites button but I do need the History button there - which I can have in old Edge but have to trawl through the menu for in Edgium3.8KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Discussion - Updating our interface with Fluent touches
Elliot Kirk Update the user interface with the Fluent Design System whatevs but please improve the file dialog. it's nice to see the file dialog has been updated to look more like the rest of Windows but we still don't have the full file dialog that exposes different sources like the Photos store (see screenshot for an example) Make tabs more square and less rounded, like the current version of Microsoft Edge yes, I'd prefer that Provide a transparent theme for the browser frame no thanks so if you do that PLEASE make it optional The address bar and text are too large I like the size, please don't make them smaller Ability to add distinct color or color themes to the main browser interface. if you do that PLEASE make it optional Add transparency or other material effect to the main browser interface. again if you do that PLEASE make it optional The corners of the tabs and browser buttons have been rounded too much. prefer the more squared old Edge look Make the tab band and address bar / toolbar smaller if device doesn’t support touch capability. make sure any changes don't affect the size of these elements on touch screens Update or add animations to user interface. no thank you - some of us find these very distracting and they can have accessibility issues so if added please make them optional Add a reveal effect to highlight on mouse hover. sounds distracting so again please make that optional3.8KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Tab Preview - Discussion
Elliot Kirkso I'd like tab preview to be persistent and NOT on hover because I need to be able to look quickly across the dozens of tabs I have open. the top tab far of Edge works well, but it would also be nice to have the Quick Tabs option from older IE versions where you could tile the tab previews to take up the full browser window instead of having to scroll. the important thing is persistent tab previews where we can see the contents of many tabs at once.9.4KViews1like9CommentsRe: Updates to the Send-A-Smile tool
Makes sense. If you want to keep the number of top level options low, maybe something like "Send us more information" or "choose what information to send" rather than "diagnostic data" which sounds quite automatic and off putting to those less technical users? 😉2.5KViews1like0CommentsRe: Updates to the Send-A-Smile tool
I found it from this post, but FYI it is *not obvious* that you use diagnostic data to attach a file - diagnostic data sounds like things that are automatically created. I understand not wanting to overload the UI, but hidden behind a filing cabinet marked beware of the leopard isn't the way to do it!9.7KViews1like2Comments
