Re: What to do when people dont have a phone
Peda05, The PIN release support in Universal Print is limited to select Universal Print ready printers. While, this list is not a full list of Universal Print ready printers, it may have your printer(s) listed to see if the printer vendor claims whether or not the particular printer model supports PIN through Universal Print. To use PIN release, the printer is set as "Direct Print" since the print job is held at the printer itself and not within the Universal Print cloud service. Additionally, Universal Print currently does not provide a way for Admins to enforce that end-users must enter a PIN. This means that if the end-user does not enter a PIN, Universal Print will not reject the print job and the depending on the logic of the physical printer, the document may be processed right away or may be rejected depending on the physical printer's internal configuration. Please note that the printer may support PIN release using OEM printer driver, but that's different from the PIN release through Universal Print.322Views0likes2CommentsRe: Universal Print on Windows 11 Shared Multi-User Device
Hi Eric, I would recommend that you file a support ticket with Microsoft so proper support and investigation can be done. For example, which Windows build was originally used before upgrading to Windows 11? Were the same users able to successfully use the same printer before the OS upgrade on the same physical Windows machine? Is the issue happening to the same set of users or the same user login account some times see the Universal Print printers and other times do not? A few things that may be worth double checking: - please make sure the user's Azure account is assigned a license that includes Universal Print (such as M365) - please make sure the user's Azure account has been granted access to the printer share of printer in question - please make sure the same Windows OS login account does not contain multiple "work or school" accounts. Hi, Is the Ricoh printer connected directly to Universal Print or is connected through the UP connector software? When you mentioned that you are using the v4 Universal Driver, is that on the client machine or the machine running the UP connector software? For the client machine, the printer queue will need to use the "Universal Print Class Driver" that comes with Windows OS. Hope that helps with initial troubleshooting.550Views0likes1CommentRe: Configuration Policy error
abraxid, please explain a bit more about the issue you are hitting. Are all the printers failing to install on the select devices? Or, are only some of the printers failing to install on the select devices? If only some of the printers are failing to install, how many printers are set in the configuration policy? sindrew, the configuration policy can be pushed to Windows 11 Windows 10 21H2 with July 2022 update and later If you are continuing to see issues, I recommend opening a support ticket with Microsoft support.3.1KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Unable to add Brother printer / Registration timed out
Update: The rollout for temporary connectivity has completed. If you are encountering issues with registering new printers or printer connectivity to Universal Print, please post a reply. Thanks everyone for your patience.2.5KViews1like3CommentsRe: Unable to add Brother printer / Registration timed out
Hi all, We would like to provide a bit more context of the recent change that impacted these printers. Microsoft is required to make changes to make TLS 1.2 more secure. Unfortunately, these changes impacted Brother printers that were using the recently deprecated ciphers. Listening to your feedback regarding the difficulty of using the workaround. We are working to temporarily allow Brother printers to connect to Universal Print until they can publish printer updates supporting stronger ciphers. We expect the rollout for the temporary connectivity access to be complete by Feb. 3, assuming no other issues were hit. We are actively discussing how we can better provide early notice to partners and allow for time to make the necessary changes going forward. Thank-you for your patience as we investigate ways to resolve the issue. Current information shows that it’s going to take a bit of time before things will be sorted out as the fix will involve a combination of updates from Microsoft and Brother. In the meantime, one option is to temporarily use Universal Print connector software to register the affected Brother printers until the official updates are released. If you are already familiar with the Universal Print connector software, then you basically want to register the same physical printer through the connector software and “swap” the printer. The reason why you want to “swap” the printer is because this will allow your client machines that already have the printer installed to continue to work without needing to re-discover and install the printer. Here are the steps to add the additional printer registration and swapping the printer without changing your printer share. On the connector software host machine, create a print queue for the affected Brother printer. Open the connector UI tool and register the printer with Universal Print. Note: You don’t need to unregister the Brother printer. Login to the Universal Print management portal Go to “Printer Shares” Search and select the printer share of the affected Brother printer Click the “Swap Printer” button Search and select the newly registered Brother printer in the flyout Click “Swap” Click “OK” to confirm If you are not familiar with the Universal Print connector software, please refer here for details. Hope this helps to unblock the immediate needs while we continue to address the root issue. Regards, Jimmy6.4KViews2likes2CommentsDelegate Printer Administration Public Preview

Sorry, this question is outside of the scope of Universal Print as it is specific to how the HID badge solution works with the Sharp MFP's. Universal Print currently does not offer badge solution. If this is of importance to you, please post your feature request at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/universal-print-feature-requests/idb-p/UniversalPrintFeatures1.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Print Connector Failing to add HP PageWide Managed Color MFP E58650 series
Sorry for the slow reply. Hopefully, you have already contacted Microsoft Support for help. If you are using the Microsoft provided Universal Print connector software to register the additional HP MFP E58650 printers and you are receiving this error, please make sure you are using the latest version of the connector software. Separately, did you try using another PC running the connector software to register the printer?1KViews0likes0Comments
