Password Generator Feedback - How Are You Finding It?
Hi all, I am very happy that this has been added but out of the many account sign-ups I have made in the last few weeks, the generator has shown up just once. I believe that a different approach may have to be taken and that is a "Generate Strong Password" option in the right click menu that shows on a webpage that has other form data such as a name or address. That way, the user can generate a password as and when it is needed, regardless of whether it has been vetted by the dev team or has the appropriate tag in the code. Either that, or a generator option in the Password Manager in settings. At the moment, I am still visiting an external site to generate them for me. What do you all think? FYI, I am writing this on my experience with Canary builds.1.5KViews1like4CommentsRe: Introducing Sleeping Tabs Experiment: Improving Memory Usage in Microsoft Edge
Reza_Ameri-Archived Good suggestions. I think it would be great to include/update: - An option in settings that turns on or off the auto reload when the sleeping tab is selected. - A quicker way to exclude a tab from sleeping, rather than going to settings and pasting the URL in the exclusion area. - I haven't had a chance to test if this exists but if a tab is closed, Edge should then select a tab that isn't sleeping instead of one that is. A new tab page should be opened if there is only a sleeping tab left after closing an active tab. My current feelings: - I do feel that changing the Favicon isn't necessary as the greyed out tabs are sufficient. - Overall, I noticed an immediate rapid response of the browser when I enabled this and stopped using The Great Suspender extension. I look forward to seeing how this evolves 😄241KViews5likes2CommentsRe: Autofill Blog #2: Password Security
Hi Suhrid_Palsule you mention that it is available in Canary and Dev channels, I tried to make an account on a website yesterday (via Canary for Windows) and there wasn't any obvious option to select an auto generated password, even in the right click menu. Can you confirm how this is enabled, please?3.6KViews0likes5CommentsVarious Edge Versions On MacOS Big Sur Beta 4 Crashes Very Frequently
Hi guys, I have logged this feedback via the browser (whilst I had the time) but I wanted to see if others are having similar problems. I am confident it is linked to Big Sur as Catalina had no issues at all. The issue: - I run Edge and start using it, sometimes it will last maybe an hour, sometimes only a few minutes and it will terminate. - I do not browse the same combination of sites every time. - I have been forced to use Chrome Canary as an alternative, but this doesn't crash at all. (version 86.0.423.0) - This is a problem with Edge, Edge Beta and Edge Dev too as I have installed all of those and it does the same thing. - Interestingly, just before the last force close, I ran Edge Canary via the Terminal script inside the app icon (show package contents > contents > MacOS) it had shown me this in the Terminal window: [0812/102241.519215:WARNING:process_memory_mac.cc(93)] mach_vm_read(0x7ffee6b73000, 0x2000): (os/kern) invalid address (1) [0812/102242.473112:WARNING:crash_report_exception_handler.cc(258)] UniversalExceptionRaise: (os/kern) failure (5) zsh: segmentation fault My stats: - At the time of writing I was running Edge Canary Version 86.0.605.0 and I am on the Insider Fast ring. - Macbook Air 13 Inch Early 2014 - Big Sur Beta Version 20A5343i (the crashes have happening since Developer Beta 1) I am not looking for an immediate fix, but perhaps some contact with devs and fellow Edge lovers to sort this issue out, I HATE having to use Chrome 😞4.4KViews0likes4CommentsEdge Experimental Flags To Recommend
I like to try bleeding edge features and builds so I mostly use the Canary branch. I know it isn't recommended but I can just flip to another channel. I currently have the following flags enabled as recommended by a blog on the web: Experimental QUIC protocol Parallel downloading Enable lazy image loading Enable lazy frame loading Allow installation of external store themes My goal is to really try and push Edge further in terms of speed, I have no issues with the current speed but as I say, I like to try the bleeding 'edge'. I had enabled Future V8 VM features and Zero-copy rasterizer but I thought that made it slower. I am on a Macbook from 2014 haha. Does anyone have any recommendations?12KViews1like2Comments- 1.3KViews1like0Comments
