Re: Universal Print Client for IOS based devices
Hi Steve-Leblond, we are actively building support for both Android and iOS. We don't have private previews available yet, but it would be great to connect now so we can include your organization in relevant previews as they come up. Can you please DM with your tenant ID and email address to get started?1.4KViews2likes4CommentsRe: Universal Print - Usage & reports section shows as (Preview) Colour /BW & Duplex Count showing Zero
Hi Kamalakannan_V, Thanks for trying Universal Print – sorry you're not seeing accurate reporting. Often, this issue is caused by one or more printer(s) not sending data to Universal Print. Can you please message me separately and include (a) your tenant ID and (b) the printer models you've registered? I can help see if it's an issue with Universal Print or the printers. Thanks! TobiasAhlberg "Work or School" policy: Unfortunately, no policy exists to control this. I would suggest creating a feature request at https://aka.ms/UPIdeas to track this. Location-based printer discovery: The "location services" setting needs to be enabled for location-based discovery to work. Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Location and enable these 3 toggles:976Views0likes0CommentsFeedback opportunity: Improve the Universal Print docs
Hi everyone, We're currently working on improving our documentation and need your feedback! If you're interested, please reach out to me directly or provide your email address via this survey. If you're an existing customer, we want to know: How can our documentation best help you be successful? What are your most burning questions? What parts of the docs do you refer back to frequently? If you're just learning about Universal Print, we want to know: What kinds of questions need answering while you're assessing Universal Print? How can we help you pitch the solution to the rest of your organization? Thanks! Braeden & the Universal Print team345Views1like0CommentsmacOS Public Preview - Update #1
Thanks to all of you who have tried Universal Print's macOS support, which is now in Public Preview! If you haven't tried it out yet, it's easy to get started 🙂 Hundreds of customers have started using it and are sharing awesome feedback about how it's helping unify printing for all users on all their devices. Additionally, all your great feedback so far has been helping us chart a path forward. I want to share some common issues we've identified, and our short-term bug fix & feature roadmap: Known Issues Installing the new Universal Print Mac App could fail if the user selects an incompatible directory during setup (Issue #3 and Issue #4) Some printers don't work properly with the Public Preview. If you're having issues, check the list to see if one of your printers is affected. Users need to be system administrators, by default, to install printers. We're working on recommendations for tailoring this behavior to your needs. If you're encountering other issues, try the troubleshooting steps we recently published, which should help with the most common issues we've been seeing. If those don't work, please reach out to support. Roadmap Fixes are in progress for Issues #2, #3, and #4. I'll provide another update in a week or two about our progress here. Many of you want to deploy specific printers to Macs using MDM. We're looking into possible solutions here. Please continue sharing your ideas and feedback while we work on this feature! We're completing the required certification steps and stabilizing the feature for general availability. We're on track for a June GA date. iOS support, in addition to macOS, is a very common feature request. We're not ready to announce support for this, but we're actively looking into it. Please keep adding your votes to the related feature request! Thanks! Braeden & the Universal Print Team1.2KViews2likes4CommentsRe: Universal Printer deploying on VMware Horizon non Persistent VDI
MSolari78 Have you already tried the troubleshooting steps in our documentation under "User is unable to discover a specific printer"? If not, that could be a great place to start. If you've already tried those steps and it's still not working, could Windows Autopilot be helpful for you? You could configure new instances to automatically Intune-enroll and kick-start the printer deployment process.649Views0likes1CommentRe: Universal print support on windows server 2012, 2008 R2
Akhil_Gopal_C Universal Print does not support printing from Windows Server 2012 or 2008 R2. Applications on any device can print by using the Universal Print Microsoft Graph API. If you have the ability to update your app(s), that could be an option. Alternatively, could you set up a local VM with Windows Client or Azure Virtual Desktop for these applications? Universal Print supports those environments.676Views1like1CommentRe: Local printers & universal printer connector & server delegation
StephanGee Universal Print has a feature called Delegated Administration which may do some of what you're asking for. By configuring and assigning Administrative Units you can: Allow an admin to manage printers by using a specific connector Allow an admin to manage printers in a specific location Provide a static list of printers that an admin can manage If you want to manage access to the server where you're hosting the connector, you'll need to configure that separately.475Views0likes1CommentNew Feature: Export Printers and Shares to CSV from Azure Portal
