Re: Windows 11 Multi Session OS universal printer disappears after restart
Mathematical and anyone else who is seeing this on Win11 multisession and FSLogix, will you please open a support ticket so the Universal Print and AVD teams can investigate this further? If you can tag me here and provide the support ticket number, I will highly appreciate it.708Views0likes0CommentsRe: What to do when people dont have a phone
Makishi, both of these are very valid questions. Currently, Universal Print supports 2 methods of secure release: PIN and QR code with the phone app. We are planning additional secure release methods like releasing the job by swiping a badge on the printer. Please upvote this feature request if this is important to your organization, and please comment with any additional details that are specific to your organization. This would be an alternative to the phone. Also, if you have other suggestions, please create a new feature request at Delegated secure release (i.e., someone sends a print job and someone else releases it at the printer) is also not yet available. Please upvote the feature request.1.1KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Join the Universal Print secure release preview
FCSC_Chris, sorry the information wasn't easy to find. I wonder if that's because it got published recently. Badge support is planned (i.e., it's on the backlog but the work has not been scheduled yet). Please upvote the feature request at RFID badges support - Microsoft Community Hub.2.6KViews0likes0CommentsSurvey: Print and Information Protection
Please go to https://aka.ms/MIP-PrintSurvey We are looking into ways to create better integration between Microsoft Information Protection and Microsoft print technologies. We want to give organizations more control over the printing of sensitive material, and we need your input.901Views1like0CommentsWe have a connector update for you!

The new connector offers the following: Support for receiving connector updates automatically Reliability fixes in print job processing Improved support for various printer drivers Improved support for various print job options Ability to capture and share detailed diagnostic logs If you have any questions, please post on the Discussions section: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/universal-print-discussions/bd-p/UniversalPrintDiscussions Let us know how it goes! Thank you. ~ Universal Print Team2.3KViews4likes5CommentsRe: Running Universal Print Connector on Windows IOT Core
Yonz22, it's not currently possible to install the connector on headless PC. Please upvote this feature request at Windows Server Core - Microsoft Community Hub. You can find the requirements for installing the connector at Installing the Universal Print connector | Microsoft Learn.853Views0likes0CommentsRe: Universal Print and Secure Printing
Andrew, releasing the print job at the printer (what some people refer to as secure print) is a set of features that are on the Universal Print roadmap. Currently, Universal Print offers releasing print jobs with a PIN. Additional job release mechanisms are coming. If there’s a particular job release mechanism that is needed for your organization (e.g., from a phone app, by scanning employee badge, etc.) please create a feature request at https://aka.ms/UPIdeas or upvote an existing feature request if one is already there.7.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: Network Printers
CommuniCareSA I’ll attempt to answer. How does UP work for network printers? With UP, both printers and client PCs are connected to the UP cloud service. Any PC can access any printer in the organization (based on permissions the admin assigns) regardless of whether the PC can connect to a printer on the ELAN. Therefore, UP works in a Zero Trust Network. Is there a benefit using UP? There are many factors you could consider that may help you decide whether there’s benefit to using UP in your environment, including: No driver installation on a user’s client PC. UP is driverless. Modern management. You can centrally manage printer deployment to client PCs from Microsoft Endpoint Manager. Both AD and Azure AD users can print. That’s not possible with print servers. You can completely get rid of print servers and their configuration/management. Printer manufacturers are updating printers that are currently in-market to natively support UP. So, you don’t even have to buy new printers that have native UP support. Check https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-partner-integrations to find out more about printers that support UP natively. Even if you use a connector, the connector is a lightweight component that runs on any PC (not just servers) and requires very little management compared to print servers. In addition, some organizations have to hang on to their AD Domain Controllers only to enable discovery of printers on print servers. If you’re in that situation, you can get rid of your DCs as well. The list goes on and it will continue to grow as we work on enabling more usage scenarios and adding features. I recommend that you do a quick test and see if it will be beneficial for your organization. You can find documentation at http://aka.ms/UPDocs. I hope this is helpful.812Views0likes0CommentsRe: Compatible with AADDS?
Thank you, JamesC95. Yes. If the PC is only joined to an AADDS domain, it won't reach out to Universal Print to see if there are cloud printers to which the user has access. That's because it doesn't know what Azure tenant to connect to. If you then add a "Work or school account" to that PC that connects it to an Azure tenant that has Universal Print, you can search for and install printers from Universal Print.1.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Universal Print licensing and Print Jobs
sebastienricher and ckilbourn To calculate the cost, I would start with multiplying the number of Universal Print licenses in the tenant x5. This yields the number of print jobs that are included in my license and are available to licensed users in my tenant. For example, if I have 200 licensed users, that's 1000 print jobs for the tenant per month. If users in my tenant print more than a 1000 prints per month (let's say they print 2000 prints total), then I need to buy 2 add-ons per month (each add-on contains 500 prints). These add-ons are $25 each. So the total cost for 2000 prints per month is $50 per month for my tenant. More information is at the pricing documentation.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: Lexmark Printer Status "Stopped" in Azure vs. Online on the Device
Thank you. One thing I would add is, if working with Lexmark doesn't resolve this problem, please open a ticket with Microsoft Support by going to the "Support" section in the Universal Print portal and clicking "Request Support". Let the Support team know what you already did by that point and share the info you got from Lexmark. I'm looking forward to finding out what the resolution is.2KViews0likes3Comments
