Re: Autofill Blog #2: Password Security
Kipopstok thanks for sharing this issue. Unfortunately, there are other cases as well where non-password entities are confused by the browser as passwords (One-time-passwords, Credit Card CVV numbers - to cite a few other examples) and lead to the same prompt showing. We would want to such experiences to be reduced to a minimum and make efforts to progress in that direction. Please feel free to file feedback using Alt + Shift + I to share with us details of where you are experiencing this. Thanks!2.9KViews1like0CommentsRe: Password Monitor is now available in Microsoft Edge preview builds
hello, Sorry about the delay in replying here! Please go to edge://settings/passwords/passwordmonitor to see which of your username-password pairs have been flagged as unsafe and change only those. No need to change all at once.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Password Monitor is now available in Microsoft Edge preview builds
Thank you for your patience, and apologies for the delay! The feature rollout continues and is made available to an increasing number of users everyday. By mid-April, the latest Stable build (E90), this feature will become available to everyone.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Use Password Monitor to help protect your passwords online
We hear you,Kam! Password Monitor, like other features, will be brought to the release version when it meets the high standards of quality that Stable channel users deserve and have come to expect. That day is not too far out, although i'm unable to share an exact date here. Thanks for your patience, and self-hosting the feature!6.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: Use Password Monitor to help protect your passwords online
rshupak Bearer token authentication is because this feature is available only for signed in users. As far as privacy concerns go, adequate protections are in place to ensure that neither Microsoft nor any other party can get any new information about you from this check. We hope to share more details on the way this check is completed with you in the near future. Thanks!6.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Feature Request, Let us use one set of User/Pass for multiple Related domains in Edge password mgr
Wittycat Currently, even if the same username-password is reused on multiple sites they ALL get flagged in the alert as being at-risk. There is no common re-use warning for this scenario. Password reuse is a common problem, but it can happen between both related and unrelated domains.3.9KViews1like0CommentsRe: Feature Request, Let us use one set of User/Pass for multiple Related domains in Edge password mgr
thanks for this detailed feedback, HotCakeX! It's not hard to see how bundling these domains together and allowing saving of one username-password for all would be beneficial. As it stands today, Microsoft Edge (and other Chromium browsers as well, but not 100% sure about all) classify passwords at the domain level. This works quite well for most use cases, but not in some special cases. There are other efforts out there, as well, such as password-manager-resources/websites-with-shared-credential-backends.json at main ยท apple/password-manager-resources ยท GitHub that aspire to empower browsers and password managers with the same capability. We are aware of this. Your feedback is valued, and we will take the same into consideration. There are no further updates to share on this, at the moment.3.9KViews4likes3CommentsRe: Autofill Blog #2: Password Security
Hey Wittycat, thank you for your feedback. Among the items you mentioned, only FoAS qualifies as having 'gone away' from Microsoft Edge. Rest assured - FoAS will be brought back to edge://flags and Password Import will also make it to the browser, although the exact date for the two isn't available for sharing. Thanks, again!3.5KViews1like2CommentsRe: Use Password Monitor to help protect your passwords online
hiDennis5mile thanks for bringing this to our attention! this should not happen, as Password Monitor is available for 100% of Canary and Dev users. Do update to the latest version or restart your browser if you're already using the latest, and let me know if the issue persists.8.5KViews0likes1CommentRe: Use Password Monitor to help protect your passwords online
Hi Bamatami, Sorry you faced this! Password Monitor checks all username-password combinations stored in Microsoft Edge, regardless of whether they are valid or stale credentials. In order to avoid getting alerts for older passwords (which are no longer valid), you can delete those specific entries from the browser by going to Settings > Profiles > Passwords. Let me know if this answers your question! ๐8.5KViews0likes1CommentRe: Autofill Blog #2: Password Security
Hi sayjay09, sorry you faced this issue. Password Generator is made available when the browser identifies the user is trying to create a new password - such as on 'Sign Up' and 'Change Password' pages. Sometimes, some webpages are not identified correctly, resulting in the feature not being offered (even via the right-click menu). Request you to file feedback about this via More Menu > Help and Feedback > Send Feedback. Thank you!3.6KViews1like4CommentsRe: Autofill Blog #2: Password Security
hi bibliophilical, sorry about the delay in responding here! Password Generator is currently available in Canary and Dev channels of Microsoft Edge. There's no information about the feature being available on Edge Mobile, as of today. Will share an update here as and when the status changes. Thanks.3.6KViews0likes6CommentsRe: Use Password Monitor to help protect your passwords online
Hi mgw000, glad you found the feature useful! Password Monitor scans and notifies the user of all compromised passwords, without exception. However, we hear you about excluding IP Addresses from the scan; many users unfortunately use weak passwords for networks, routers and such. To that end, there's an easy to use 'Ignore' button that moves such password entries into an ignore tray - from which point on, there will be no further action sought on them by the browser. Let us know if this answers your question.46KViews1like5Comments
