Re: Provide run / open / save / save as options when downloading files - Discussion
KristersA Discuss further... you're kidding, to be sure. This issue is so clear-cut, an obvious no-brainer; doesn't need heaps of talk that hasn't, already, been well stated. Nobody wants to work or function without these standard, expected & required options for downloading (or not). Cheers, Drew3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Please bring "Set Tabs Aside" to New Edge
Maybe, some of the toolbar features of HTML will be in Edge later as it receives its updates. But, specifically regarding items like Reading List and Set Aside, the idea or intent may be that Collections will serve the purpose, in future. Elliot Kirk Elliot, sounds like 4 comes the closest to covering things or summing it up nicely. Certain instances will beget different actions. Point is, YES, sometimes want to run or open something without saving. And, if saving, always, want choice between DLs going to the DL folder or being directed elsewhere. These (traditional) options, really, should (continue to) exist. Cheers, Drew3.3KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Custom theme
Dan203 Hi Dan, There is a way to achieve what you seek, at least, I think you will agree it will do the trick for you and surprisingly (maybe), it's in your OS Settings not, in any of the browser's Settings. I have been doing/using this since day 1 of beta testing Edge. In your OS > Settings > Personalization > Colours. Pick an Accent colour & be sure to Check Title bars & window borders. Can, also, make tabs super-easy to see & distinguish, depending on the colour selected. Cheers, Drew1.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: New Tab go to home page
cjc2112 That's an idea, sure. But, it would not help towards what you're wanting if opening from the taskbar, jumplist or start; only the Home button would do it using an, already, open browser window. And, actually, can do it, now, already. Since the Home button IS ones Home page, if it is hit with the middle (3rd) mouse button (its wheel) that will open a New Page which, will, indeed, be the Home page, again. Ever since April we've been saying it's not consistent if the NTP doesn't match the Home page. Let alone people wanting to customize it to whatever page or site. Alas, still, cannot. Send the request to Feedback. Building & modifying isn't stopping. Cheers, Drew4.4KViews0likes1CommentRe: New Tab go to home page
Dan203 Dan, We have been asking for the ability to set a URL on NTP since April. Whether it be the same as ones Home page or another page, as long as the User can pick it. Would be great to have. On the bright side, at least we have the daily photo back again Cheers, Drew4.4KViews0likes4CommentsRe: A huge thank you to this Insiders group
Bob_j5 Bob, One thing I (& many others) have always liked A LOT about 10, right from the onset, was/is the lack of need for adding or using outside utilities; and how it's its own caretaker so, nicely.. And from the eyes of an any IT Pro the (terrific) difference in deployment, installation & updating from prior OSs is admirable and just SO much nicer! Oh what a clever pun (maybe, almost) But, seriously... Edge has Insiders &... It, certainly, is true that we Insiders have an edge... in so much that we, already, have an intimate, hands-on, 1st-hand few months of experience & knowledge of Edge. Nicer than coming to it cold. Things about it are & will be familiar to us... "Isn't that just special?" (<-- some movie quote, I think) AND, we can urge, encourage, help & inform others. And, that's a cool bi-product of being Insiders, of being cutting-edge Folks, blazing the trail for others. Not to mention, helping to build the thing Cheers, Drew789Views1like1CommentBeta Item Absent
In case anyone had not noticed, there is an Edge Beta item which, did not make it into the current GA. Settings > Privacy & Services > under Tracking prevention NB: FYI: Not a matter of On or Off, the above is not there, at all. However, it IS in Edge Beta (80), ergo, expect it to come to Edge (currently 79) with a future Update . Cheers, Drew740Views0likes1CommentRe: A huge thank you to this Insiders group
Elliot Kirk Elliot, thanks for saying this. It is nice to be acknowledged & appreciated. For myself, it's a privilege, an honour & a joy to learn, help others & be pat of creating & building products people will use & like. To you, Microsoft and anyone it helps... it's my pleasure. Likely others share the same sentiments. If it helps any wee bit, that what we strive, why we do it & all we can hope. Thanks, again. Nor is our work, as Insiders, finished... The icon behavior when apps are pinned exists in this (for example), but, it's going to be very similar to the Beta Channel. It's, also, 79 not 80 or 81. A lot will change (for the better) with its 1st update & beyond. Cheers, Drew6.8KViews2likes3CommentsRe: A huge thank you to this Insiders group
Elliot Kirk Elliot, will it wait all the way until 2004 arrives or will it be before that? I, certainly, doubt it would be as much as after that. I switched over, even though a number of things are absent, until Updates arrive. Still, have Dev & Canary which, are missing a lot less. Cheers, Drew4.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: Inking on Web Pages - Discussion
This is in reply to both people: Inking IS available for PDFs in Dev & Canary. It should be in Edge for PDFs, as well, soon. I'm not saying it's definitely coming, but, we do expect Inking to, also, be in the browser itself, soon. Countless people want it and have been asking for it. Cheers, Drew Sent from Windows Mobil5KViews0likes1CommentAn Observation on Perception
Today began a new chapter in web browsing with our new Edge. There has been heaps of talk (some from myself) about 'missing things'. Really, these 'things' are possibly going to seem absent for 2 groups of people... ex-Edge HTML folks and Edge C Insiders. For others it's, won't miss what they didn't have. Ergo, since there weren't that many using Edge (much to my surprise) and not all that many Edge C Insiders... that leaves most folks who will be using Edge (C), now, won't be missing anything. If only we didn't know OR the joy of being naive. It, basically, is a very good & quite cool browser. Plus, some (more) things will come, anon, anyway. But, that was it... not everyone discovering Edge (now) will think anything is missing. Insiders & ex-Edge users may, that's who & that's all. Cheers, Drew712Views1like1CommentRe: A huge thank you to this Insiders group
StoneT Hi, Admittedly, I may not be exactly on the right or same wavelength with, but, I'll toss this at you, anyway, FWIW. Let's say a site was pinned whilst you were using Dev. Now, you have Edge (non-beta) open. And you open the pinned item. At a glance they look like the same browser, BUT, it has, actually, opened Dev, separately & on top of the Edge browser. It has to be things that were pinned with (GA) Edge not, previously, using a beta Channel. If I've misunderstood you, just ignore what I wrote. Cheers, Drew6.7KViews0likes2Comments
