Re: When using CoPilot in Edge What are the Benefits of using Web rather than Work?
Also, you will eventually realize that using the work tab and asking it something not related to your work files will give you outdated and bogus results. Apparently the work tab will default to its baseline knowledge (which is NOT reaching out to the current web) if it can't find the answer in your work stuffs. For example, when on the Work tab, ask it how to get MS Teams Shifts info to appear in Outlook calendars. It will probably tell you that it's super simple...just have your admins flip a few switches and you're in business. Well that is absolutely NOT the case. Now ask that same question on the web tab and it will tell you that the only way to do this currently is with Power Automate flows.665Views3likes0CommentsRe: How to use Copilot Agents in SharePoint [All You Need To Know]
Can you please explain this discrepancy in MS documentation? This page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-and-edit-an-agent-d16c6ca1-a8e3-4096-af49-67e1cfdddd42) states you can edit an existing agent by adding/removing site, PAGES, and files the agent should reference. However, the only options for sources are ENTIRE sites (not just single pages), libraries and files. Additionally, this page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/frequently-asked-questions-about-copilot-in-sharepoint-eb1b7668-3d98-4a93-98ef-f0c6dfc694f0) under the question "What files are supported by agents?" there is a note that you can't add pages from the Site Pages library as a source. To me, these don't match up and I have not been able to find a way to scope an agent to a specific SharePoint page. What am I missing here?3.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: What Happened To The "Discard Changes" Option When Editing SharePoint Site Pages???
I found the answer....our tenants have been updated with the new co-authoring feature for pages. This apparently renders the discard changes button useless...therefore it is gone and isn't coming back. You will have to use the undo button! yay https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/collaborate-on-sharepoint-pages-and-news-with-coauthoring-91d7dc25-37c3-44a4-99da-f552e0f9cfe9#:~:text=Coauthoring%20on%20a%20page%20or,%2C%20or%20real%2Dtime%20collaboration. Undo To undo changes, authors can use Undo to undo the most recent changes by the current user in the current browser session. To undo more changes or changes made by other users, authors can restore a prior version from Version History Note: The Discard changes command has been removed as it is no longer needed. Authors can use Undo and Version History to revert to a previous version.2.4KViews2likes1CommentWhat Happened To The "Discard Changes" Option When Editing SharePoint Site Pages???
I have access to several tenants - both on Targeted Release for SharePoint online. One tenant shows the discard changes option when editing a SharePoint site page. The other does not...the only options are undo, save/close, and republish. I am global admin on both tenants...what's up with that???Solved3.9KViews5likes4CommentsHow To Reference Files Using Copilot In Word By Copy Pasting The URL
First off, I have no idea why what I'm about to type is not published in the existing Copilot in Word training materials produced by Microsoft. Nevertheless, if you are trying to use the pre-fetched files or trying to type in file names and they aren't showing up....here is how to get around all of that. Also, it does require some pre-work in step number 1 - but this is a one time deal. Search for clipboard settings in your Windows settings Tap the windows button on your keyboard and type clipboard...select "clipboard settings" Turn on "Clipboard History" to "On" if it isn't on already Navigate to the location of the file you want to reference (OneDrive/SharePoint) Open the details pane for the file and scroll down to the bottom to the "Path" section and click the icon. This copies the absolute URL (just the straight up path - no garbage included) to the file Repeat as necessary until you have up to 3 file paths copied Go to your Copilot prompt and type what you want to happen with the files you are about to reference from your clipboard (summarize, rewrite, create new file based on.....) Within that same prompt, hold down the windows button and press "V" This will bring up your clipboard history (if you followed the 1st step above correctly) Now you can paste in the URLs of the files you want to reference You will know the files were found/accepted after you hit the space bar as the URL will resolve into a hyperlink with the title of the file 3 files is currently the max you can reference in one prompt Yes this is a bit manual - however I see no other way to reference a file if it doesn't show up in the prefetch window or when you start typing the name of the file. Update! After you go through the steps above, when you come back later....typing out the file name seems to work. I guess there is some caching going on. Good luck and please let us know if this works for you!6KViews3likes2CommentsRe: Major Bug In Updated Sharing Experience!!!
Edited: You are actually right! Thanks for your help! Thanks....except there is no mention anywhere in that communication that states when you choose "people" with existing access" that it will then grant access to folks who had no prior access. So there is something wrong.960Views0likes0CommentsMajor Bug In Updated Sharing Experience!!!
Is it just my 2 tenants or is there a major bug in the most recently updated sharing experience? Here is my experience on 2 totally separate tenants with the new experience when sharing a link to people with EXISTING access. People with EXISTING access: Simply put, SharePoint now instantly grants access to ANY PERSON you list who is part of your organization regardless of their prior access! Before this update, if you typed in the name of a person who did NOT already have access to the file, you would get a notice in the box that says "This person does not already have access to this file" Now....it just adds them as a contributor to the file...even if they don't have prior access!!! Someone please tell me how this is possible...on 2 different tenants??? Is this happening to your tenant as well? Do they even test these things? Am I just losing my mind? I have no idea anymore. Below is a screen shot of the "Updated" experience. Please let us know if you are experiencing similar behavior so that Microsoft can get on this. Or just let me know that I'm totally cuckoo....I guess that's entirely possible as well.1.1KViews0likes4CommentsRe: What Happened To Details Pane In SharePoint Lists???
ganeshsanap Thanks...it looks like you have the update as well...but mine looks like this....I have tabs for the switching of views vs a drop down. I was already aware of the nav elements setting...it did nothing. What's also weird is that I have 2 tenants that look the same WITHOUT the details pane!5.9KViews2likes4CommentsWhat Happened To Details Pane In SharePoint Lists???
I understand MS is probably pushing to get lists in SharePoint to open inside the Lists app Within the past 2 days, I have seen 2 of my tenants (I'm on targeted release) update to where lists in SharePoint have a similar look/feel to lists in the LISTS app. I have also noticed that the "open in immersive mode" [this option is supposed to remove the SP navigation] arrows pop the SP List into the Microsoft Lists web version (with purple border at the top) After you are in the MS Lists web look and feel, the "open in immersive mode" arrows change to "open in site" I guess all of the above is well and good...however, the thing that is most frustrating is the removal of the details pane! Where did it go? I can't see it anywhere! I use the details pane all the time to help determine who made changes, who deleted things, who added things, etc. It's also the way many users edit list items! Arrrrggghhhh! Has anyone else experienced this?7.1KViews2likes8CommentsOrg Wide Teams Issues
Is anyone else having strange issues creating Org Wide Teams? Here is what's happening in my tenant. We have 2 Org wide Teams I used "New" Teams desktop app to create a new Org Wide team (I'm global admin) The action appears to work However no members are added automatically When go to settings under manage team, there is no padlock When I click in edit, the privacy shows "Private" instead of Org wide If I go to classic teams and go to manage team > settings > edit the privacy shows as org wide but still no members are added automatically Viewing the team in Teams admin ctr shows the privacy of the team as "public" users can search for and join the team (which is not at all what I'm trying to do) Is anyone else getting this erratic behavior for Org Wide Teams?881Views0likes0CommentsRe: Allowing users to create files that are only visible to them
I understand. You could use Power Automate to change the permissions of the file as soon as it uploaded to only be visible to the user and their manager. Again...that methodology always seems like overkill to me...SharePoint sites are really meant as spaces where more than just a handful of folks can access something. That again leads me back to OneDrive. The user should create a folder within OneDrive and then share that folder with the 1 or 2 people who need to be able to see these files. Then the user adds files to the folder in OneDrive and shares a link with the manager each time they add a new file. Just my humble opinion3.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: Allowing users to create files that are only visible to them
What you are describing is OneDrive for business. If the user is the only one allowed to see the file, why would you want them to create it an actual site and then go through all the trouble of having them restrict permissions and hide it? If they create the file in their own personal OneDrive then it is instantly locked down to just the user that created the file....just a thought. Good luck!3.3KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Event List (Calendar) Content Types Other Than Event Content Type Not Showing Up In Events Web Part
DaveMehr365 Actually I found out why my events aren't rolling through and your post helped lead me there. Here's the deal: For some reason the developers who created this calendar blew away the event content type and created a new content type based off the ITEM parent content type! OMG....why...WHY....WHYYYYYYYY Therefore, I'm fairly certain that ITEM content types DO NOT flow into an event web part...nor would I ever expect that to happen! So it looks like I'm stuck using Sharegate to bulk edit all items in the Calendar to be an event instead of an item1.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Event List (Calendar) Content Types Other Than Event Content Type Not Showing Up In Events Web Part
Thanks I'm glad to see it working in your tenant. Unfortunately, the only way I can get my dates to show is by using Sharegate to bulk edit the content types of all items from the custom one to the event content type1.4KViews0likes0CommentsEvent List (Calendar) Content Types Other Than Event Content Type Not Showing Up In Events Web Part
So I have a really old calendar that has multiple content types associated with it. There is one custom content type that is the default and ALL item in the calendar are using the custom content type. The original Events content type was never used. What I'm noticing is that any items created using the custom content type are NOT showing up in the modern Events web part. If I go in and add an item based off the original Events content type, then they show up just fine. Does anyone know how to get other content types in an event list to display inside a modern events web part?1.8KViews0likes3CommentsMicrosoft Lists - Can't Save To "My Lists"
So I'm a Global Admin. I have 2 tenants. On one I have an E5 license on the other I have an E3. I don't know if this makes a difference or not but that's the biggest diff I can see between the 2. On the E3 tenant I am able to access the Microsoft Lists app, create a new list from an existing list, and save that new list to "MY LISTS" in the save to drop-down. On the E5 tenant the save to choices DO NOT include "MY LISTS" What am I doing wrong? Why can I create a list from an existing list and choose to save it to "My Lists" on 1 tenant but not the other?500Views0likes0CommentsRe: Microsoft Teams News: Wiki Page Retiring in January 2024 & There Are Things You Must Do
I don't think anything is happening to wiki pages in SharePoint. This thread is about wikis in Teams which is a totally different animal. Also, my 2 cents, don't use Wiki in SharePoint...use Site Pages, they are superior in every way. Good luck!5.4KViews1like5Comments
