Re: Dev channel update to 99.0.1131.3 is live
Hi josh_bodner Sorry to bump a month old thread, but I'm confused with this feature Added the ability to manually set which profile certain websites open in via edge://settings/profiles/multiProfileSettings. How do I set the default profile for all subdomains of a specific domain? E.g. I want all *.microsoft.com sites to open in profile ABC. That is techcommunity.microsoft.com, docs.microsoft.com, etc. Setting just microsoft.com doesn't work with subdomains. And the UI does not allow wildcards. Looks like a half-baked feature. Yes, I understand I'm commenting on Dev, but it'll hit stable in that state shortly. (FWIW, it's already in stable w/o the Add button, which makes no sense at all). Hello josh_bodner There's one update missing from the change log - a new flag edge://flags/#edge-history-accelerator-override (Enable history accelerator to open the full page). It's an important one [for power users], because it addresses an issue of the broken Ctrl+H workflow introduced with the new History pane. On the one hand, I'd like to thank the Dev team for listening to our feedback. On the other hand, I'd like to request a permanent setting for this flag. Because we all know what happens to flags - they disappear and never come back. And so does our UX. Thanks, Vadim8.4KViews2likes1CommentRe: Improvements to history in Microsoft Edge
Hi William Devereux This a nice looking improvement, but unfortunately you broke a crucial power user workflow: ctrl+h - start typing. It's easy to fix by mimicking the history tab behavior in the new history popup, that is making the search field active upon ctrl+h. This is how it could look (also attached). https://i.imgur.com/atn2LFP.png Duh, you can't insert a photo when you edit submitted post on this platform. I have submitted this feedback thru the browser, but it's a black hole for us anyway. Yes, I realize the new search is not only across history, but I'm sure your UX team can figure this out.30KViews6likes1CommentRe: Announcing the Open/Save as/Save and Delete prompts for downloads!
i-am-kent unfortunately, you totally killed remembering the last save folder. Let's say I want to save five files into the non-default folder. If I click Save as, I get the 'save' dialog with the default folder. If I click Save, I save to the default folder automatically. What you could have done is: Save - default folder Save as - last saved folder As for now, I had to turn off the download prompts, as they provide very little benefit. Instead, they slow down downloading small files that get completely downloaded even before you click anything.31KViews4likes0CommentsRe: Issue: RSS feeds are larger than 1mb
HotCakeX the bots (even if they worked) do not have feed burning features I described above using description as an example. Telegram is not the only destination I'm interested in, and therefore the desktop/mobile apps don't cut it either. Like I said, this is about the RSS feed hygiene. RSS is meant for delivering content updates, not for storing the entire blog content for ages.1.5KViews0likes2CommentsIssue: RSS feeds are larger than 1mb
Hello, TechCommunity RSS feeds for some blogs have grown larger than 1MB, because the feeds pack the whole post into the <description> and keep the entire history of posts. Here's the IT Pro blog feed with the items going back to 2017. Here's why this is an issue. I use RSS as a means to sending updates to different venues, e.g. Telegram channels. While having an entire blog post in a feed is preferred by many, sending a badly formatted update to another venue does not provide a good reading experience. That's why I use FeedBurner to burn the description and limit it to N characters. If readers are interested in a particular blog post, they can follow the link and read it on the web. Unfortunately, FeedBurner won't work with the feeds larger than 1MB. So my updates are no longer working, and I'm not inclined to deliver handpicked news to my readers in a form of entire blog posts. While it's tempting to blame everything on FeedBurner, the actual culprit is TechCommunity RSS feed settings. There's no real need to keep the entire history of blog posts in the feed. Last 10-15 posts is good enough. I believe this is a common practice with RSS. I urge you to consider cutting down on the number of items in the RSS feed site-wide. "Email me when someone replies" doesn't work
Hello, There's a little checkbox 'Email me when someone replies' under each blog post. I have it checked, I post comments, but I never got a single e-mail notification to the blog posts I commented. What's the point of this thing? Does it work? All my subscription settings are at defaults (way too many for a broken feature). My e-mail is @outlook.com and there's nothing in Spam or filtered otherwise. I have restarted my PC, etc :) VadimSolved2.5KViews0likes8CommentsWindows 10 1803+ no longer creates backup copies of the registry (on Feedback Hub)
The RegIdleBackup scheduled task no longer creates backup copies of the registry hives in the RegBack folder. This is a major blow to the Windows emergency restore abilities. Think of [forum] support when the OS won't boot and the restore points won't work. Check in #PowerShell: Get-ScheduledTask regidlebackup | Get-ScheduledTaskInfo dir c:\windows\system32\config\regback Please 👍 in #feedbackhub Insiders on 1809: https://aka.ms/AA31iwh Non-insiders on 1803: https://aka.ms/AA338xg RT https://twitter.com/vsterkin/status/1057379031987961856 Pics below.4.1KViews1like2Comments
