Re: Text predictions unexpectedly become unavailable and are missing in Outlook options
Interesting. I did some checking and, while I can find a number of posts with the issue, I've yet to find a conclusive fix. I did find one post that offered a registry edit that might work. In this post, the person was looking for a way to turn it off organization wide and found it was controlled by this registry key: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\MailSettings Set DWORD "InlineTextPrediction" on (1) or off (0) I checked my installation and this DWORD is not present, so it would be a default; adding it might force Outlook to show the checkbox. I cannot verify it one way or the other and if you have any reservations about editing the registry, by all means DO NOT! In several of the other posts I found, the setting came back all by itself. The post I reference is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/o9pit6/disable_outlook_365_text_predictions_orgwide/1.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: .OST file problem
michaelbfoxman That error often means there is an issue with the .PST file. Have you tried running the Inbox Repair Tool (Scanpst.exe) on the .PST file? Instructions are here: Using the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) More info on the error is here: An Unknown Error Occurred Error Code 0x80070002 in Outlook50KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Outlook Webmail New Mail Interface
On both of your screenshots, the cursor is in the To: field; historicaly, NOTHING in the Ribbon is active when your cursor is in the To:, CC:, or BCC: fields. I believe you'll find that all the Ribbon stuff that is inactive will suddenly come to life when you click the email body to place the cursor there. Give it a try.1.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Outlook fails to make a connection with Yahoo server after Windows 10 update
JerraFoster Yahoo removed their "Less secure email app" setting, so you now have to generate and use an "App Specific Password" This Yahoo article will show how to make and use one: Generate and manage third-party app passwords15KViews2likes4CommentsRe: Reset Message class of imported emails?
Brewder what kind of account was setup in WLM, and who is the provider? What kind of account did you export to in Outlook 2007 and who is the provider for it? It is generally better to use File > Open and Export > Open Outlook Data File than it is to import the .PST. If you open this .PST in Outlook 2016, what do the messages look like?1.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Receiving "Contacting the server for more information" with the latest Outlook 2005 update
liquidate I don't have a solution, but maybe an explanation. I get that message frequently. It is always in response to a specific email sender, a restaurant chain I chose to get notifications from. Anytime I open a message they send, I get that error message from Outlook as its waiting for the restaurant chain's servers to supply the pictures sent as embedded web links. In other words, Outlook is showing this particular message to tell me that it can't show me the embedded pictures until the sender's web servers supply them. Any chance that might be what you're seeing?5.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: I cannot edit some of contacts
Rod-F I believe it may depend on where the contact is located or came from. This can be due to the Outlook Social Connector which shows you contacts from social networks. In my Outlook Desktop installation, for example, People still shows me LinkedIn contacts courtesy of the Social Connector; these I cannot edit in Outlook. Outlook.com does not show me LinkedIn contacts while Outlook Desktop does, but, If I take one of these LinkedIn contacts from my Desktop and copy it to my Outlook.com contacts, I can see it and use it, but I cannot edit it. My guess is that the contacts you cannot edit originated from somewhere else.8.5KViews0likes1CommentRe: Is Outlook being discontinued at any point in the forseeable future?
PNP_Tube No, Outlook is not going away anytime soon nor even not-so-soon. Outlook.com is not going away either. As to "parts" of Outlook, the feature set it provides is constantly changing, new features are added, old ones are sometimes removed or changed. An example of this is the People Pane. Its still available in the longer term release channels, but is no longer available in the Insider Fast channel, nor is it available in Outlook 2019. Long term, it is to be deprecated; like all features, however, that will ultimately depend on the Outlook user community.15KViews2likes1CommentRe: Outlook People Pane is missing in Office Insider v2005 build 12816.20000
Gerard Schilderinck Yes, its missing here also. It appears to be turned off in the Insider Fast build, but still available in the slower channels. From what I've heard, long term, it will be deprecated.1.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: How to control the amount of emails that sync to Outlook Android App?
According to this article: How much of my email does your app sync? "Our app automatically syncs one month or 1000 emails "; I've found nothing else except this Outlook for Android Uservoice article, which you might consider upvoting: Options to load emails on the basis of time. Like 'past 2 weeks ', 'past month', 'all'. That helps to load emails from a particular time21KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Outlook not opening and prompting for safe mode after latest update to monthly release
I had exactly the same issue updating to 1806 (10205.20008) and used, quite surprisingly, the same cure. Time to do some reporting, methinks… If any of these folks are on an Insider release channel, please consider using the Support feature to report the issue.27KViews1like6CommentsRe: Clicking on To: filed to get common email address
What version and build (File > Office Account) are you running? I'm on Insider Fast, running Version1805 (9312.2008), and I get the Recent People list clicking either To: or CC: fields, it may be specific to the build you have.975Views0likes0Comments
