Hello all,
I am using MS Teams to collaborate with colleagues. Obviously, a lot of information is shared via email with attachments. I cannot find a way to save the attachment directly from the email to a file folder in the MS Teams app. Drag and drop not working.
Is there a function or an add-in in Outlook or MS Teams?
Thanks
Youssef

Hello Damien,
I dont have the 'Upload' option in my outlook.
Did you 'activate' any add-on to get it available?
Thanks
Youssef

Excellent find @Damien Rosario , that's a newer option I didn't notice got introduced. It's probably on Targeted release Office Pro Plus builds only since I've never seen it till recently. My Outlook has it. Much needed feature.

Thanks @Deleted. Yes, I'm using 365 ProPlus and so my experience with these products is business related which is my primary context. The feature has been there for at least a few months now as I had mapped it out in my training documentation some time ago, so it snuck in!
You're probably right that it is a more advanced product feature and it should become mainstream!
@Youssef BENHOMAID, what version of Office are you on friend? Your options in the screen shot are clearly different from ours.
Cheers
Damien

Hello Damien,
I have Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus - Version 1708 (Build 8431.2215)
Should be pretty up to date, no?
Thanks
Youssef

Technically, you are saving the file to GROUP in that case right? You don't have the ability to select a specific folder or channel to save it to that I can see.
That seems SO lacking. Our users are constantly sending files/reports back and forth to external clients, and the interoperability with Outlook is a mess for my users. These shortcomings are constantly re-enforcing my users desire for Slack

Specific to Outlook Attachments? I couldn't say. I don't use Slack, and I am trying to get our users to stop. But when there are obvious little issues like lack of code snippet support, inability for persistent sorting, lack of private channels...etc, then the users fire back at EVERY problem with, "This is why we want to stay in Slack."
Those little things add time/steps for users, and those add up for some of our more clerical users who are rapid fire repeating things. The users who brought THIS specific issue up prefer working out of a File Share on a local server. That is one of the biggest things I am trying to get them out of. And this is a significant roadblock to the way they work on a daily basis.

Okay, just want to make sure I got this right:
At the moment, it's not really possible to save an attachment in an Outlook (desktop) email message directly (i.e., with no further steps) to a specific Teams channel? If I click the attachment and choose Upload from the menu, it shows a list of Groups, some of which correspond to a Teams team, but uploading the file there just takes the file to that Group site, from where it'd have to be moved to the proper Teams channel. In other words, it'd take just as much (if not more) time as saving the attachment first to your desktop, then dragging & dropping it to the proper Teams channel.
Weird enough, it's currently possible to attach a file to an Outlook email message straight from a specific Teams channel; attaching a file this way shows all the proper Teams channels where you can go and get your file. Is there some subtle Microsoft logic that I'm missing here?

Hello!
I pulled up the list of Teams in Outlook where I can upload an attachment directly into that Team. LOVE IT!!! But, I have one Team that isn't showing up. I can't figure out what I've done differently with that Team. Any ideas?

Hi Damien,
We've tried that but for whatever reason it only shows certain (arbitrary?) Office 365 groups and not all Teams of which you're a member.

Paul

Hi! there is 2 options I just tried out!
If you sync the library from Sharepoint that contains the channel folders, you can just do a "save as" on the attachment and browse to the corect folder!
Also, what's even better, there is a FLOW template saving attachment to SharePoint! Just insert the site and then the channel into the flow and you're done! Took 2 minutes..Also you can further customize the flow to meet your goals!

Hi.. Thanks for confirming the same issue I've noticed. I have also been trying to save attachments into specific Teams Channels, but only get the view of all my Groups within Outlook. So it saves to the root and have to move into a channel from a SharePoint browser view.
I've just tested the save locally into File Explorer and have OneDrive Syncing that Group so this does work, but it would be nice to have the option to pick a channel within a group direct from Outlook.
Any idea if this is on the Teams Features Roadmap

There's nothing in the immediate roadmap as far as I know, however I would think that this will be a feature in the future as it's a practical need that no one will disagree with!
In saying that, it doesn't hurt to give it a bit of a bump on UserVoice if it's not already there.
Cheers

Hi Damien,
This is the option I'm looking for, however, my version of Outlook ProPlus (1812 build 11126.20266) isn't showing this option. I can only select the Upload to Onedrive.
How can I get this option to show?
