When I use MS Teams Meetings' "Call Me" feature, my phone audio works fine for 29 minutes, then it drops my call.  This behavior is consistent after testing in multiple meetings.  By contrast, if I call into a Teams Meeting, my call is not dropped.  I have Microsoft Teams Version 1.2.00.8864 (64-bit). It was last updated on 5/2/19.  My phone is an iPhone 7 on a Verizon plan.

I have not experienced this problem with Skype meetings when I have Skype call me.

To add to the mystery, I experience similar behavior on WebEx meetings.  If WebEx calls me, or I call in and enter a participant ID, I drop after 30 minutes.  If I call in and don't enter a participant ID, I am not dropped.  Thus, I tend to think the problem is on my side, but I cannot figure out what the problem might be.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Solution

Solution found:  This problem was occurring because my iPhone 7 was configured to leverage WiFi calling.  I turned off WiFi calling, and the problem no longer occurs.

@SFWA_KP Thanks for sharing your workaround. It's definitely helpful. But what if you do actually want to leverage WiFi calling so that you're not using up your mobile data which for most is limited and after the limit is reached, you either get charged more or bandwidth is throttled until the next monthly cycle? Shouldn't Microsoft fix what would seem to be a bug?

@derektom I haven't experienced this problem for over a year, and I have had Wi-Fi calling enabled.  I think it was a bug with an early version of Teams.  If you are experiencing this problem, it probably has a different root cause.
