We just got all the announcements from MS Ignite 2019, and no mention of 3x3 video. Is it possible to get an update on this feature release schedule? This is the single greatest reason why my users won't fully adopt MS Teams meetings. We are a video heavy company (almost mandatory in meetings) and spread globally. We like to see each other, do silent raise your hand votes or thumbs up etc. When video is minimized to a picture, the experience is dismal. And candidly, 3x3 is not sufficient... Zoom ALLOWS 49 VIDEO FEEDS in a meeting. Let's go Microsoft!! I've been in MANY Microsoft meetings, and I know most MS staff don't like to go on video, but the rest of the world is living the modern work style and adopting video... it would be nice if we could see each other in Teams!!!
(And FYI the second biggest adoption barrier is that there is no easy interface to insert additional dial in numbers, in-line to a meeting invite. If you don't have an internet connection, you cannot find out what the additional dial in numbers for a meeting are, as they hidden behind the link and require browser access. Makes for impossible voice only calls when someone is traveling and they don't have access to dial in numbers. Look at How Zoom does it. Keep all your good stuff, but also Just be more like Zoom!!)

Totally agree here. Biggest complaint on my team is that they can't see more than 4 people at time, would love this feature implemented sooner than later. We are heavy video users and will be switching to Zoom soon, which is unfortunate. @Migs

Using Cisco Video conferencing software we can have as many as we desire, though to date we maxed out at 5x5 so as to maintain resolution on a 55" monitor. There were over 40 endpoints in that VTC (especially when the SG is having a townhall meeting)@Migs

Please up vote this request to send Microsoft the message that they really need to work on this feature: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17010055-show-video-for-all-pe...

is this feature coming any time soon?.. what is the point in a video conference with a team, if you can only see 4 of them? The recording also only records 4 people, so you have no idea what the others gesture when the meeting is on.
Zoom used to allow many more.
Perhaps increase it to 50?

We already have a heavy investment in MS everything but have to consider purchasing another product just because of this inability to see all our meeting participants. Silver lining from COVID might have been that our users finally adopted O365 but now they are mainly complaining about this one thing.

As an Ex-MVP for 10 or more years, what @Christopher Hoard means by "he is under NDA" is that there is a build somewhere with this feature. Or its at least being developed.
They need to get this out on a Insider build, and pronto, this situation is shocking as I am using other products instead of teams now for video calls.
03-19-2020 10:36 AM
@Christopher Hoard Will MS ever learn that it's way better to be honest about timelines instead of constantly saying 'soon'? Rhetorical question of course, they never will.
Clearly there's a technical limitation here that they're not able to overcome for some reason, which makes it more frustrating considering their resources. You're microsoft, you can figure out video compression.

I am blown away that it has taken this long! Now with COVID19 and everyone working at home it has compounded issues. I am a COO In a large healthcare organization and we met today and it was so challenging with not being able to see everyone on the call and we had 10 people on. FIX THIS ASAP IT SHOULD BE A PRIORITY. THIS WAS COMMUNICATED OVER A YEAR AGO. I would HATE to switch to a competitor...but I may. Also I cannot even call anyone as Microsoft has made this near impossible. You would think a massive organization like MS would work OT to address this. I love Microsoft and trust you all to get this going!! Let's do this guys.

Just adding my voice to this conversation. It does seem very shortsighted & tone deaf that MS hasn't added this functionality yet. As the CEO of my organization - I've begun having a sizable percentage of my staff start to work from home. I suspect this percentage will continue to grow in the coming days / weeks. This has resulted in a much greater need for video conferencing and the four windows is a real disadvantage for Teams. The last thing I want to do is to switch over to Zoom or BlueJeans but if there isn't some action soon then that feels like the spot we'll end up.
Meanwhile - everyone hang in there! It's a crazy world right now.

I don't understand how come such an important feature hasn't been added yet. I see the last response was updated a year ago. This is the high time MS teams take all the advantages of remote work trends. We really need this ASAP.

We would like to use Teams for digital education in a Class, and unfortunately this is a no go criteria, in our School.

Just discovered the current limitation, when having more than 4 visible in a team is most critical. Shame. My wife is a teacher, and she is having the same problem - not enough for an online staff meeting, let alone teaching a group of pupils. Think like the Apollo 13 problems solvers, and get it fixed quickly please - it is not beyond your programming talent - is it?

I just went here based on the other form to vote! Vote, everyone and leave a comment!
03-23-2020 07:51 AM
@IonaThomas , I totally agree-- we need this feature NOW and for Microsoft to take almost a year now to have it completed is UNACCEPTABLE.
I will be looking at ZOOM and forgoing this worthless feature.
Hope you're listening Microsoft, because I'm betting a lot of people will be doing the same thing!!
03-23-2020 08:21 AM
Please - we need this as fast as possible. We provide assessments and will start doing these virtually. Looking at other software now that will show more than 4 participants.
03-23-2020 11:23 AM
@Christopher Hoard - "They are very aware of the issue, have a plan and are working on it"
They have been aware for over a year per just this thread. I'm sure they were aware prior to that during testing and development when they asked the question, "What if there are more than 4 people on a conference call". This is ridiculous since there are so many other competitors out there that have the working technology so it is not like they are having to re-invent the wheel here. Just another face-plant by Microsoft in the long, long line of face-plants.
03-24-2020 11:27 AM
150 of my users are working from home, and Teams is helping our communication with online meetings, but I'm getting complaints about only having 4 people on the screen at one time. "Can I get a license for Zoom so we can see everyone at once?" is the question I'm being asked now.
Microsoft, it would be in your best interest to give an update on the 3x3 video conferencing before everyone bails on Teams and switches to something else, like Zoom or GoToMeeting.
03-24-2020 12:32 PM
When will this become available? We need it yesterday. With a team of 13, our organization needs to be able to see everyone at the same time during an all staff meeting. Zoom allows this and if Teams doesn't catch up to them we will be migrating our meetings to their platform.
03-25-2020 04:36 AM
@'ve just seen that there is a Zoom app in Teams. Not sure if it works yet as I'm on a standard Teams call, but could work!
03-25-2020 10:25 AM
@James_Laird We are going to use Zoom. we are a school and Zoom has nice classroom features. Very disappointing. Because once users use another good tool, getting them back is difficult if at all possible. And the Zoom app is limited in Teams but I am going to look into this further. Zoom is a great product. MS, you missed this boat too.
03-25-2020 12:07 PM
totally agree to above posts, MS needs to get this feature available ASAP!
Way behind some competitors which is disappointing
I have a team of 10 people and during confinement times I can only see 4 at a same time on the screen which is just not good enough
03-26-2020 11:07 AM
The irony of MS limits:
|Number of people in a meeting||250|
And only 4 people on a screen. I am busy setting up a Zoom account because Microsoft cannot pull their finger out and it is causing a lot of pain to everyone working from home. Whether this has been going on a year or less, it shows complete shortsighted planning to still be in this situation now and a complete lack of clarity and timescale when a basic feature may be available....
Such a let down and as someone else said, moving to another product will make it impossible to go back and will open the floodgates to explore alternatives to O365.
I am just exasperated that a company the size of MS can take this long to develop more than 4 people on a video!!!
