I'm testing Teams for my org with guest users. We can schedule a meeting but the guest user is unable to chat to the host within the meeting. They get "administrator has disabled chat". 

 

I can't seem to find any option of allowing guest users to chat within a meeting?

How about in the Global Messaging Policy?

All set to "On" bar use memes in a conversation.

Hmmm, as others such as Tony Redmond have mentioned in other posts, are the guest users logging into their own Teams Tenant when joining the meeting, or are they switching over to yours then entering the meeting? Are any of these settings disabled on their tenant? And I take that all internal users have no problem with chat?

The guest user is just using Teams online and from a Google account.

 

 

Thanks. The guest user can see the chat button. They can click it and see the chat from the internal user. They just can't respond? "This has been disabled by your administrator".

 

Not sure if it's the same issue or related.

That can be the same as the point above, has the user logged and switched to your tenant before joining the meeting? They may be a guests in another tenant and with the current limitation they wouldn't see chat.

Pardon my ignorance, but if they're joining a meeting from Teams online through a browser, how would they switch tenants? 

The same way as in the desktop app, a list of tenants appears at the top right beside their profile picture. They would also be asked which tenant to join as they are signing in.

There are some limitations to meetings features for guest users. Guest participants don’t have access to Files, Chats or Activity. They can only participate in audio conversation, without the option to send instant messages or send and receive files. Guests cannot share camera or screen, but they can view other members’ shared screens. The options of this feature are still in the development, so we can expect to have more options soon.

It is a Yahoo user and they were added to guest in other tenants.

Oh really? I thought that was the case of inviting them onto a team but not for a meeting? I'd like staff to be able to use Teams for meetings with external/guests but seems other video options would be better at this stage.
