Hi, so when I create a reoccurring meeting in a channel, the ENTIRE team is appended to the invitation along with my select attendees. How do I only select specific attendees and NOT the entire team? I do not want to send this invitation to 100+ people.

This is how it works! Everyone in the Team are free to join!
In your case I’d rather set up a private meeting!
Yes free to join, but I do not want the entire team to receive invitations
This is probably due to people are following the underlaying outlook group which makes them recieve notifications when events adds to the group calendar

Hi @Awatatah ,

As mention it is probably to do with the underlying Office 365 group calendar. This thread seems to suggest that the issue has been going on for a long time with no current resolution.

https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/286611-office-365-groups/suggestions/32434663-selectivly-invi...

Just create the invite using Outlook and the Teams Add-in. Once you send that out to those that need it, you can copy the meeting details and post it into a channel assuming you want people to see it in that channel. You could further mention the channel if you want those "Showing" it to get the notification of the meeting when the meeting starts etc.

Anytime you use a channel meeting the whole team will get a notification for it. So I usually avoid those and just use the standard invite methods of Outlook + add-in or meetings tab without the channel option selected.
Your option is not efficient for reoccurring meetings.
What doesn't work about it? We use it often.
It's not convenient and efficient. Every time I want to start a meeting I have to manually start the meeting, give it a title, etc. When I set up the meeting through the channel it starts automatically. This is very helpful with reoccurring meetings
I guess, we just click the single join meeting button from the outlook invite on the Meeting reminder, same thing honestly. The only thing you don't get is the meeting history in the channel and a running group chat / meeting with it.

If you want to continue to use the Channel meeting you would have to investigate having everyone go in and change their group email settings but you cannot assign this for them.

@Chris Webb  I know what you mean by creating a private meeting, but sometimes, a channel is created to cover a project and not all team members are part of the project, we want to utilize the channel meetings to share files and save the recording in one place.  this causes everyone in the team to receive the invite and cause confusion.  They are free to join and learn about the project, but If they are busy and working on something else, they think that they should be attending.

I had the same problem. I started a meeting with only a colleague in the channel to keep the history from it there but all members received the invitation and started asking if there was a scheduled meeting for them. Have you found any solution? Thanks.

@Awatatah This is extremely frustrating for our organization as well. We want individual channels to be able to host their recurring meetings and keep the history of those meeting without the ENTIRE team getting the notification of those recurring meetings.

This has been a struggle. I hope there is a way to address this soon.

@Awatatah Same problem for me; Meeting has to be created from Teams to get it under the channel and teams adds the Teams underlying group in required attendees in the background and without showing it!! This is however visible in the event under Outlook -> Group Calendar, where you can remove the group from required attendees, which sends a canceled event e-mail to all (including still required named attendees)

- A suggestion for Microsoft would be to expose the group under required attendees in the event definition as soon as a channel is added, so that we can remove it if needed (or better, let us add it or not)!!

- In the meantime I am going to investigate where single user can retrieve the e-mail notifications for groups...
