When guest users search for file using the search bar at the top of the application, they get a return however the only tabs that show up for them are "Messages" and "People", the files tab does not show for any of our external users. However when they "Open in SharePoint" they're able to search in SharePoint without issues.
We're using Teams as program controls for a very large CIP project. With 100+ guest users that have Office 365 licenses provided by their Company it would be extremely helpful to have this feature available.
Thanks

That's the expected behavior, remember that guests are limited users. Even for the tabs that are exposed, you will only get a trimmed set of results. Yes, you can search in SPO if you open the library, but there you are also limited - try changing the search scope to cover all sites for example, see what happens :)

I have worked with Microsoft on this issue for the last week. They were surprised that the "Files" tab search feature was not present for guest users. After a weeks worth of testing they directed me here.
The Teams SP Site has no issues for any guest users searching, permissions are based on the team itself. pretty straight forward. I believe it is a matter that the feature is just missing.

Hello
We are working with a big research project with many universitys from South Africa and Sweden. We would like to use Teams and invite Guests to our Channels, but we need to be able to use Search for files.
How is the progress going on to fix this bugg? :)
