Is there a way to configure email notifications to team members when a file is uploaded to a channel? Our emergency and crisis medical departments post patient admits/discharges after shift pass downs and we upload these schedules to the Team channels. We do not want to be sending emails with patient information so a simple notification that a new file was uploaded would be very beneficial.

Yes, go to the underlying SharePoint site document library, then create a "Flow" on the library and you can pretty much do whatever you want using Flow. So condition out when a file is uploaded then do x. Etc.
Because Teams uses SharePoint as it's underlying document repository it opens up a lot of functionality. You could even do push notifications to a mobile device, e-mail, post to Teams. Pretty much anything when a condition is met.

The best bet would be to use a flow to post into the channel when a file is added, but you could also send an email etc as well. It would look something like ...

This solution worked great. I also realized I could setup Alerts because Teams runs on SharePoint.

Christopher, I guess there is no simpler way for a Team to get an alert from within TEAMS is there? I guess the in-app notifications are just limited to posts? For anything outside of that you need to set up a flow?

I tried this but it only sent an email to me. I was hoping to set up a notification to all members of the Team. Is this possible?

@Darrell Webster how do I start a discussion on the document? do you mean to just on the conversation channel @mention to the ones I want and tell them: "hey, guys I've just uploaded a document in the files section of this channel? Thanks in advance.
