When trying to share files in a chat i see the message 'Sorry, you need OneDrive for Business for file sharing.' which is frustrating because i have OneDrive for business! The issue has only affected me and one other colleague and is not limited to the client as i am also unable to share files via teams online.
Any ideas on how to fix?
Pic attached.

Hi Matthew, this is a bug. If you have OneDrive for Business enabled, then you should be able to share files in Chat. SharePoint Online is required for file sharing in team conversations. Please file a bug via the Feedback icon in the lower left in product, or via User Voice (http://aka.ms/teamspublicfeedback) so that we can triage accordingly. Potentially you can try uninstalling Microsoft Teams and reinstall?

Juan, OneDrive is the backend of private chat. You are correct that SharePoint backs files for team conversations. Thank you for all of your posts supporting this Tech Community. Much appreciated!

@Deleted, thank you for reporting the issue. This is definitely a bug. I will have someone reach out directly to you to troubleshoot and potentially get logs to help our debugging. It may take a couple weeks given the holidays.
In the meantime if you report an issue as Elaine mentioned we'll take a look.

Matthew,
I will send you a private message so we can further investigate this issue. Thank you.

Was a solution to this bug found? I'm having the exact same problem with one of our OS X systems running Teams. I'd love to know the fix if it's available.

SolutionGo to Files > OneDrive area of the Teams App and then see if it resolves the issue (this sets the personal siteurl). If not, please send me a personal message and we can further investigate your issue.

We are also experieincing the issue. It is occuring on a machine that has both a personal onedrive account and onedrive for business, if that information is helpful at all.

Hi everyone -- thanks for the feedback.
This is a known issue and we're working to fix. It happens to me too!

Several out of our team are experiencing this too. Do you have any updates?
02-21-2017 01:28 PM
I also have a user that is getting this message and cannot send files. She can receive just fine...
Any resolution or work around on this?

I am having the same problem but I'm using the Mac client. Is anyone else using a Mac and experiencing this problem?
02-24-2017 09:02 AM
I had this issue on the most up to date mac client:
0.7.00.5204. It was last updated on 22/02/2017.
I had to go Files -> One Drive on the teams app to fix it
02-24-2017 10:34 AM
I also do not see the place everyone is refering to. Files -> OneDrive does not exist in my version of teams on Mac.
02-24-2017 10:44 AM
It's the 5th option down from Activity on the left side of the application...
02-24-2017 11:04 AM
@Suphatra Rufo - do you have any updates? I've tried accessing files from the desktop and web client but that didn't resolve the issue.
02-24-2017 05:28 PM
We are also seeing this issue, the files > onedrive fix has not solved it for this impacted user.
Others in our org are OK, but this it is really important that we get this working for the user in question.
Because that user is me :)
02-24-2017 08:40 PM
Hi,
I have tried Files-> Onedrive option and this does not resolve the issue.
All my team members are facing this issue in windows and MAC.
We are able to share files in groups but not in One to one chats.
Please let me know if there are any other ways to fix the issue.
Thanks
03-02-2017 05:53 AM
@Suphatra Rufo Has there been any advancements with this issue. I still have a user that cannot share files and it is really becoming a problem.

Good news everyone - The fix for this issue is available in the latest Microsoft Teams release. Please update your clients or sessions and attempt to share files in chats. Do note that it may take up to 24 hours from the time you recieve the latest build for the fix to take effect. Of course, if you're still having trouble beyond that point let us know.
We really appreciate everyone's patience and assistance in getting to the bottom of this one!

Still unable to attach files in chat.
What is status of this one? I found https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17740195 where it said to be fixed, but in reality it has not.
04-11-2017 01:10 PM
Aleksi, assuming your tenant has OneDrive for Business, you're likely in a specific, relatively small group of users who are still impacted.
We're rolling out another change in the next one to two weeks to address this - we hope it's the final nail in the coffin. I'll give an update when that goes out, and would appreciate confirmation that it is (or is not) successful.

Thanks for info!
Today i found a way to get files working in chat:
Verified these steps also on my co-workers computer.
Yesterday i tried "Files > OneDrive" trick, but had no luck.
Today "Teams -> paper clip -> Onedrive" did the trick and we are able to attach files on chat!
Cheers!

For my company it is not working neither. We are on E3.
Hope it's getting fixed soon.

None of the service related to ODFB is woking in my org. Still waiting for microsoft to resolve the issue. Its 4 th week am waiting

We are having issue as well, company wide. We have tried accessing OneDrive through "Files > OneDrive" as well as "Teams > paper clip > OneDrive". Those solutions have not resolved our issue of attaching files in Microsoft Teams.
We are unable to share files through our Teams client as well as Teams online.

I am also still experiencing this issue. I have tried all of the fixes above.
Thanks,
Andrew C

This is also happening to a user in our organization. None of the workarounds have worked.
- Clicking Paperclip icon not working "OneDrive is not available"
- Drag-Dropping file into Chat Not working "OneDrive is not available"
- Going to the Files Tab > OneDrive: Able to upload in that portion.
Also not working when user us using Microsoft Teams Web App - Gets the exact same error(s)
User is on latest Microsoft Teams Version (Microsoft Teams Version 1.0.00.10951)
User just reinstalled to most current OneDrive Version.
Rebooting computer /Reinstalling Teams did not work.

This issue continues for some of my org - some people do not experience it while others do. The suggested resolutions haven't worked, to date. As of 4/27, and on most recent release.

*Update*
The user that was effected can now share files in Microsoft Teams. Nothing was done that I can see that resolved it. User is still on the same version as was before.

One user in my org is experiencing this today. I had resolved it on my machine by the File>OneDrive fix but no luck on his end. Both of us are on the same build. Seems our only option right now is to wait to see if it resolves in 24 hours?

I am again facing this same problem. Previous fixes/attemps do not work.
I was trying to share file on chat, something went wrong and now it says: "Sorry, you need OneDrive for Business for file sharing." Please help!
